One year from Omega’s freedom from the Empire, life couldn’t be better. She gets to be with family and friends without interruption, and Pabu is home. But one day, a new person comes to her island. A boy. A boy who she feels particularly drawn to, one that shows her friendliness and that welcomes the same from her. A boy who also happens to know about things that Omega would rather forget about completely, like evading the Empire and using the Force.
Cal Kestis meant for his trip to Pabu only to be a reset after time spent warring against the Empire. It was only meant to be a vacation on a picturesque island. He didn’t mean to meet a girl who he would instantly form a crush on. He didn’t mean to dig up old memories that were better left untouched. Above all, he definitely didn’t mean to discover the existence of a girl clone, much less get swept up into a romance with her.

As he stares up at his bedroom ceiling, that’s what he tells himself, anyway. That’s what he usually has an easy time believing to be true.

The man’s tone was venomous, and his voice had begun to raise as he approached Bob. Bob grimaced as the memories from that day trickled into his awareness, followed closely behind by the guilt and unease that accompanied them. It was as if this stranger also had the ability to reach into people's heads and pull out things that never should see the light of day.
Bob had not signed up for that reminder tonight. He had not wanted anyone to bring that up, ever again, really, but especially not when everything was right in his world. Not after his new family had spent so much time helping him to see his worth and potential as a person. He let the coriander slip out of his hand and clatter on the floor as the hair on his arms stood on end. “I’m more than just that. A lot more.”

She yawns, stretching exaggeratedly and then leaning her head onto Bob's shoulder. It's been a long week. A long month actually. She can't remember the last time she took a proper break.
Bob wraps his arm around her, pulling her in closely, and Yelena breathes in the smell of him. He's recently begun to wash his hair with a new shampoo, one that smells of pine and mint,and Yelena finds it quite pleasant.
The sun is making its way to the horizon and Yelena admires the colours of the sky. She's always loved how at sunset there are so many different colours that come together and create a beautiful painting. It feels... not magical, but. Special. Something to be treasured.

On a perfect evening in Louisiana, at the Wilson family home, Sam Wilson offers to take the Thunderbolts out on a dreamy boat ride. Bob and Yelena take the offer, and as fate would have it, they're drawn closer together than they've ever been.

Bob looks at her. She's looking at him like she always does, patient and kind, and Bob feels both guilt and gratefulness for her. She's never pushed him too hard. She's always been content to wait for as long as he needs, helping him with even the tiniest things.
Bob can do this for her. He can sit up.
He takes a breath to gather his strength, before he brings his hands beside him and levers himself up into a sitting position.
Yelena beams at him and Bob thinks that she's worth it.
