Everyone was busy when the bugbear noticed that Frost was not having fun. While the rest of the party was chatting with the rock people, dancing and grabbing food and drink– Kremy discussing what to do with their time tomorrow– he had his eyes on the tabaxi. Not in a creepy way, of course (he’s not a pervert, he’s just a bugbear!), but he was worried about him. Torbek knew that the other often strayed away from the group, as if unsure how to place himself in the party, but this certainly felt different than most times. The tabaxi was… well, struggling, would be putting it lightly. And no one seemed to notice.
Except for Torbek.

Hootsie was sleeping soundly, halfway in her father’s lap. Gricko was diligently carving a piece of aspen, lacking any real shape at the moment but Frost knew it would get there.
Frost found himself quite relaxed, back against the cool grass and head resting on his discarded robes. His gaze roamed the scenery.

Not that it needed to be adjusted, of course– he had shelled out all the gold necessary to ensure it was tailored to him perfectly. He had an image to uphold, after all. But something about it was off, the image of him in the same suit he always wore suddenly not quite right. The dissonance clawed at his mind like a cat trapped in a box.
Just one of those days.
Those Days– which he had dubbed them whenever he forgot that he wasn’t supposed to be thinking about it– had been cropping up more frequently since they had escaped the feywild. You had more time to think about things you rather wouldn’t when a hundred-thousand gold piece debt to the most dangerous man in Agwè wasn’t hanging over your head, he supposed as he wiped off his drawn-on mustache. It had been smudged at some point during the day. Probably Gideon’s fault.”

Gods, there’s blood there too. “What sort of bodyguard are you meant to be if you get killed for chasing some tail?” Gideon chortles, sighing softly and groaning with the jolting movement of his wounds.
“Guess I’d be a pretty shit one.” Gideon replies and his eyes flutter in pain; he exhales shakily and glances at him, looking at him with something resembling scrutiny. “Guess that makes me a pretty shit husband too.”

Kremy LeCroux, the best conman in all of Agwe and slowly expanding to the best conman in all of Avantris, stood in front of the mirror in the dingy bathroom of their current tavern.
Having drunk more than necessary already, he felt his head swim like a lazy fish in the sluggish waters of the bayou he called home. His palms gripped the cool sides of the mirror.
He wasn’t sure why he’d decided drinking would douse the flames of jealousy burning in his chest.

Kremy's met with Garou, paid their debts and then some, and is now ready to live it up for a week or five in the prettiest city he'd ever been to, roads swimming with lights and flair as the street parades began for the Week of Deities. Unfortunately, old faces lead to old places, and it seems the stream is twisting in a way he isn't too keen on.
Caught between a waterfall of tears and the rocky rapids of regret, he needs to learn to ask for help. A new deal with Garou weighs on his heart and hips.

He watches Torbek run around with Gricko and Hootsie while Gideon and Kremy laugh from the sidelines, and suddenly those feelings of inadequacy return.
He doesn’t know what to do with himself.A Morning Frost character study because he deserves it. Frost develops a crush, doesn't understand that's what's going on, and uses his feelings as a catalyst for his doubts and insecurities. Not very Frostbek-focused, but it’s there.
