“Red,” crackled through the coms. Bakugou. Kirishima breathed again. In, and out. Weathering the storm. Bakugou was talking to him. “Don’t even think about responding to that, you better keep holding up this fucking building or I’ll crumple it on top of you myself.”
He was buying Kirishima time, listening to the other hero offered at least moments of reprieve. Bakugou had clocked everything about his situation, down to the fact that he couldn’t answer another question without losing his focus.
“What do you say you and me get some food after this, huh?” Sound once again sparked into his ear. He could hear the background noise of sirens, the slight chatter of maybe news reporters. “There’s this new place I’ve been wanting to check out.” Then, slightly quieter, as is Bakugou had shifted away from his com, “If Uravity doesn’t hurry the fuck up I’m blasting through. I’m not fucking joking Deku, I am about to bring this building down.”
Or, Kirishima gets stuck underneath a building. Bakugou comforts his Atlas.

That’s why, when Yue hears a wordless, hoarse noise of pain from Touya, Yue’s wings snap out without thought. He goes to move forward, but finds, to his crippling horror, that his legs won’t move. They’re rooted to the cold rooftop, and no struggle will move them an inch.
“He’s not a part of this!” Sakura yells, but she is still far away, close to the enemy. “Yue! Let him go!”
The blood in Yue’s body freezes. For a terrible, interminable second, the only thing Yue can perceive is the whistle of wind past his ears.
Yue looks to his right.
His own pale arm, cloaked in the white sleeve of his robe, is clenched tightly around Touya’s neck.

Keith would like to speak to whoever put a clock in the room. It’s right above the bed. Ticking. Ticking. Ticking away. Counting down each second, each minute—mockingly. Up until this point, everything had felt loud. Chaos and sirens, crying children, the calls of doctors. Shiro’s voice in his ear, a steady hand on his shoulder, tethering him to reality. But now it’s quiet as Lance lays motionless on the hospital bed. His chest rises and falls, but only with the help of a ventilator. Bags paint darkly beneath his eyes; his cheeks are hollowed and his skin is drained of color. Keith had clung desperately to the steady beep of Lance’s heartbeat, but the clock had drowned it out and wrapped its monotonous hands around Keith’s throat.

Kojiro puts two heavy hands on Kaoru’s shoulders and ducks his head a few inches to thunk their foreheads gently together.
“You can just say you’ll miss me,” Kojiro teases, “No one else is around to hear you.”
Kaoru pulls his head back and jerks it forward again with enough force they both have a fresh bruise come morning.Alternatively: They've kept each other patched up over the years, the unspoken promise to never really leave stronger than any band-aid could be.

Summary
During a mission gone wrong, Lance finds himself in a position that can't be helped. The best he can do is mute his mic and hope the others don't hear his screams.
Lance has to amputate his leg, Keith finds him and brings him back to the castle of lions, and Shiro helps him get back on his feet having been in the same position Lance is now. The only problem is, Lance and Keith's trauma go deeper than the others realize. Coincidentally, their shared trauma also brings them closer together.

Denki regrets maintaining eye contact, but, also, he doesn’t because damn, Hitoshi has pretty eyes – and focus, Denki, focus! “I’m sorry,” Hitoshi starts, quietly, almost threateningly, and tilts his head. “Would you like to repeat that? People think we’re what?”
“Pining,” Denki bursts out, almost too loud in the hospital gardens, and then he hunches forward and continues much more quietly, but no less heatedly: “They think we’re,” he swallows and finishes, almost lamely, “pining.”
Hitoshi says nothing. Waits.
“They have a betting pool,” Denki practically wails.
(or: the entire hospital staff has a betting pool on when Denki, resident trauma specialist, and Hitoshi, the neuropsychologist, will start dating.
The punchline is that they are married.)
