In the hall of Storm's End, Aemond turns towards Luke, his eye lighting up with something terribly dark and pleased.
Foreboding turns Luke’s stomach to lead. That is not a look he has ever wanted directed at himself. That is not a look of someone who means to honor that Luke is here as messenger only.
Aemond considers him for a moment longer, gaze flicking up and down with the pleased glint of a smug cat. Then he turns toward their host. “Lord Borros, be my witness: by the ancient customs of our House, by the ancient rite to wed fire and blood, I declare a marriage hunt on Lucerys Velaryon.”
The entire hall falls silent.
Oh no. Luke gapes; his uncle cannot mean this seriously—
The only smile on Aemond’s face is one of dark triumph.

Lucerys swallows his confusion, lets it stew in the pit of his stomach. Feels it sink and settle, far heavier than the rain clinging to his skin. He opens his mouth, dazed beyond belief, but flounders, and the words don’t come at first.
“I can’t marry any of your daughters, my Lord.” He confesses after a breath, brows furrowing as his befuddlement deepens and tugs at the corners of his already twisting frown. Hesitantly, he turns away from Lord Borros, shifts his gaze, reluctantly meeting the stare he had been avoiding. Precariously teetering on the sharp edge of a maelstrom of hurt. “I’m already married.”

Louis blinks his eyes open, his eyelids fluttering as the room swims around him. He takes several gulps of beer once he confirms that he’s definitely not hallucinating, that the very first portrait Harry Styles ever painted of him is hanging on that wall.
Louis stares at the wall, his heart jackrabbiting in his chest as he realizes that there’s not just one painting of him, there’s five, the portraits lined up like they’re some sort of storyboard depicting the rise and fall of his deepest love. His greatest heartache. A pain that cut him so deep that he left the fucking country, severing all ties with his life in New York, now suddenly surrounding him as if he’d never left.

Louis returns to New York City five years after he left it – and the love of his life – behind. He didn't intend to see Harry again, but fate has a funny way of pulling them together, whether they like it or not. After making a begrudging truce, they both start to wonder: Would it be so bad if history repeated itself?

He ducked behind a tree trunk once he’d put some distance between himself and the group, pressing his back against the bark as he took deep steady breaths. He waited for the shouting to start, for his name to echo through the trees. But when that didn’t happen, he reached up for the first tree branch above his head.
He used to think that he was born to climb. Back when he was a kid and didn’t know much beyond the fence of Hell’s Gate, he spent every day climbing the trees at the edge of the boundary. He climbed until it became second nature, and he’d reach for footholds on instinct. Now, he shimmied up the young tree with ease, the wet moss a bit tricky to navigate but he managed it.
He crossed between treetops once he was high enough, watching as the recoms finally pulled their friend free. A murmur shot up between them, and their heads turned quickly.
They were looking for him.

When you sing to yourself on a walk alone in the forest, or whisper stories down by the stream, or have a soft conversation with another, she takes bits and pieces of memory and emotion to carve out a new soul, waiting for a vessel to house her creation. Together, lovers whisper words of bravery and strength, their favorite characteristics of one another and their family members, in the hopes that Eywa will take those words to craft their child.

Obi-Wan can’t help but stare as Vader takes off his helmet, revealing unmarred skin save for the scar, the same handsome cut of his jaw, and unruly hair. It hurts to see harsh yellow eyes staring back at him instead of the soft blues he is used to.
He averts his gaze. He almost wishes Vader would put his helmet back on; it is easier not to think of him as Anakin that way.
