Summary
Blackbeard is dead, as far as anyone knows. In his place lives the man Edward Teach, who has escaped to a small coastal town in the middle of nowhere in the hopes of a fresh start where he can forget his chequered past. He doesn’t want much, only a simple and quiet life which he has found as the lighthouse keeper of the town of Saint Bellamy.
He is content with his solitary life on his own small island, until the day a stranger washes up on the beach after a storm. The man is unlike anyone Ed has ever met, and as Ed helps to nurse him back to health, he discovers that he’s not the only one with a secret past.

Summary
Professional thief Edward Teach is tired of hole in the wall apartments, shitty pub food, and skipping town every few months to keep the cops off their tail. He’s well past the age he meant to flee the country and retire, and all he needs is One Last Job to set him up for life. When he hears that some rich bastard outside of town has just the sort of treasure he’d trade his good knee for, Ed sets out in disguise to get the lay of the land.
What he gets instead is a case of mistaken identity. Yanked into Stede Bonnet’s multimillion dollar home and greeted with relief instead of fear, Ed suddenly finds himself entrusted with the care of the recently-separated Bonnet’s two children. And he’s not hating it. Not at all.
But there’s still a mysterious treasure to find. There’s still Izzy Hands, breathing down Edward’s neck about finding the money and moving on. And there’s still Stede Bonnet, with his easy smiles and soft, kind voice, and his silly talk of second chances.
The Bonnet house is enormous. It’s no wonder a kid who grew up in dingy squats and group homes would get little lost in it.

Being on the Revenge was like being cocooned in Stede’s zealously theatrical yet heartfelt personality at all times – smothered in frills and truffles and tiny little pots of something called 'moisturiser' that Ed absolutely did not understand, but really did appear to do wonders for his perpetually wind chafed cheeks – and if it was like that, then being in the auxiliary wardrobe was like being in the absolute heart of him, cuddling up to the veins and vessels that made his blood pump around. Stede was still here, even when Ed was alone.
So if that was the case, that quiet voice deep in the depths of Ed wondered tentatively, what if – what if Stede found him here, all cozied up like this? What if Stede liked it, that Ed came here alone, and what if he – what if he decided to touch Ed, really touch him, right here amid the racks of finery?
