Summary
George is in his sophomore year of college, and everything is great. He's well past the relationship that broke his heart, he has amazing friends, and school is going well.
Until one day George passes out mysteriously and is rushed to the hospital. Turns out his body is rejecting heat suppressants and he needs to stop taking them immediately, no big deal right?
Doctors tell him that he can't live alone while he recovers, so George and his best friend Dream decide to finally go through with their plan to get a couples dorm together, as friends of course.
But when George gets ready to experience his first heat in almost a year they both revisit an old pact from high school, and their friendship quickly starts crossing lines they can't come back from.
This tells the story of George and Dream's long and complicated friendship, and what happens when they think they can casually add physical intimacy to the mix. George might have been missing a lot of feelings Dream's been keeping hidden.
Featuring middle school and high school flashbacks.
Settle in, this one's gonna take a while.

George's looking at him, Dream is, too, but he can only concentrate on George.
There's always been something scary about his eyes, intimidating and almost out of place alongside his soft features. They're like a blackhole, consuming everything around them for the mere fact that they can, they are those of a predator, always aware of their prey even when their main purpose is not to catch it, but to remind it of its place in the world.
Sapnap laughs, rolls his eyes and really sells the deal when he raises an eyebrow at him, indifferent. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
His friend nods, satisfied.
(George looks at Dream the whole night.
And only stares at Sapnap when he's fucking him against his room's wall.)

Listen, everyone knows the typically school story of the bad boy falling in love with the good girl, and her falling back despite the warnings. Then he ends up breaking her heart, and then 10 years later they’ve both matured and somehow reconnected and BAM they’re together again and it was meant to be all along.
But… this wasn’t a story. And George felt stupid as fuck for falling into a gay version of this fucking cliche.
George moved to America to study computers and coding and go to school, not fall for the hot biker guy bad boy who apparently isn’t even a bad boy!
Oh and his best friend is hot too, what’s up with that?

Funnily enough, the song playing in Sapnap’s head may be loud, but it occurs to him that all of his other thoughts inhabiting it have finally subsided. He isn’t sure when that happened, but he feels relief. He wonders if Karl had anything to do with that, but quickly flicks that thought away. It was rather stupid, really. He already knew the answer.
