Shion looked away briefly, then back at him. He hesitated, bit his lip, and hesitated again, before finally speaking.
"Nezumi… would you, erm— would you kiss me? Like you did before you left?"
Nezumi didn't hesitate before answering. "No."
"Oh."
"I won't kiss you like that, because then it'd just be a goodbye kiss."
"Oh."
And, really, it was all it took to make a laugh escape Nezumi's lips.

Armand stood, back to the window, unblinking, tension carrying itself in his frame. Liar, Louis thought. All he could think. Centuries old monster playing at being a boy. A boy pretending to be a man. Unworthy in both roles. Something akin to revulsion clawed up his throat, but it couldn't be, not really, he was too burnt to a husk to muster it in its completeness.
“Come here,” Louis said, his voice dropping.
Armand stepped forward, eyes going wide and hopeful and hungry in half a second. “Yes, Maître.”
“You’re still on that?” Louis asked.

He looks ethereal this close. Brown skin glowing gold under the soft yellow lights from the ceilings. Perfect face marred with incomprehensible sorrow.
Armand takes one shaky steadying breath, exhaling through his mouth. They are so close the cold breath tickles Daniel's nose. Then another. Daniel mimics him unknowingly. He can tell meditation does nothing to ease his nerves. His lips stay parted around the third one. They look so soft. He can imagine them on his own.
Was that a memory too? Or was that his own longing?

“You’re trying to kill me,” he accuses, fitful. He catches the look Sejanus and Lucy Gray exchange and becomes agitated. “You’ve been–You’ve been in here, plotting to leave me.”
Leave isn’t the word he’d meant to use–betray, in retrospect, would have encompassed his fears better. Sejanus makes a noise that might’ve gone for a laugh, if they were at the gallows. Then he scrapes his teeth into the nape of Snow’s neck. “Not tonight,” he says, voice heavy. Lucy Gray takes the opportunity to kiss Snow again, and for whatever Godforsaken reason, Snow lets her do it.
