The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.

Armed with the secret knowledge of what came to pass the first time; it is now a race against time to take back the mountain from the dragon Smaug before Sauron's festering darkness ends like line of Durin once again. The quest is made harder with every step closer to their goal as the Ring begins to awaken early. Can Bilbo stay strong against its malevolent will to pass the burden to the Fated Ring-Bearer Frodo? Or will the Ring corrupt Bilbo before Thorin can figure out what secret his burglar is hiding from him?
