    Summary

The boy standing in the mirror wasn’t Wilbur.

He blinked a few times, and the boy in the mirror did too. He lifted a hand, with the stranger doing the same. When he flipped the reflection off, the bony and bruised hand flipped him off in return.

“This isn’t me,” Wilbur whispered in the stranger’s voice, the reflection mouthing the words in time with him.

This wasn’t him and yet the reflection in the mirror was telling him it was. The boy had curly blonde hair that was styled similarly to Wilbur’s, except the fringe wasn’t nearly as long. Wide set blue eyes stared at him, and after a moment of being frozen, he squeezed them shut, wondering if his reflection would be back to normal when he opened them.

His eyes blinked open, and he saw he was still blonde and blue-eyed. Fuck.

or, Wilbur is bored of the monotony of his life in a small town, and wishes for a new life. Meanwhile, Tommy is tired of the isolation that comes with living in the city, and wonders what it would be like to have a closer family.

Neither one meant they wanted to start swapping bodies.

or or, a Your Name au.

    Summary

Everybody knew about the tiny apartment on the East End of L'manberg, hiding in a far corner of the lower districts.

A place everyone was welcome, regardless of their given title.
Where villains could come for medical treatment.
Where mafia goons and bosses could rest without the need to look over their shoulders.
Where vigilantes and heroes could have a nice chat over tea.
Where treatment (and treats) were given out freely.

Where societal tags (and their due expectations) were shot and murdered at the front door.
And if you ignored this rule, you too were shot and murdered at the front door.
    By whom was a gamble.

Everybody knew about the tiny apartment on the East End of L'manberg.

Everybody also knew that if you touched any of the occupants, well...
You'd have the entirety of super-powered society (underground and otherwise) gunning for your head.

Tommy Innit, the owner of said apartment, lived quite the interesting life.
Seriously, he just wanted to bake cookies, what just happened?

Just, like... The best???? At like everything??? (except for an upload schedule lmao)

No, but fr, this is the only fic I have ever bookmarked that's incomplete, and it might be the last, because this is a high bar to clear. Like, the worldbuilding is top notch, the characterisations impeccable, just, idk man, IT'S GOOD! Better than good really. Anyhow, welcome to the bookmark pile.

    Summary

Wilbur’s breathing hitched as he looked into the pale eyes of the dead boy. Unlike before, his lips were no longer blue, and there was no more seaweed stuck in his blonde curls. He was sitting up now, the waves soaking the bottom of his pants as he sat on the sand across from Wilbur.

    “You-”

“I’m not dead, Wil,” the boy said, the words tumbling out of him in a rush. “I’m not dead, don’t fucking listen to them when they say I’m dead because I’m not. You know I’m not!”

“I-I saw your body,” Wilbur stammered, unsure of how the dead boy knew his name.

“It’s not me! I don’t know what the fuck that thing was, but I’m not dead! You can feel it, can’t you?” The boy pleaded, his voice cracking as he started crawling on the sand towards Wilbur. “You have to save me, Wil. Please, you need to get me out of here!”

or, Wilbur finds a dead body at the beach, and that's only the start of his problems.

I've been looking for this for so long. I don't know what it is about this fic, but it feels so full and complete despite being so short. It makes me feel creative, and even with a relatively simple plot, it's so well written and paced and put together that it works. I never would have imagined I'd love this fic, but like anything you write, I fall in love with it anyway.

    Summary

His name was Tommy Innes, and he was born to touch the stars.

Of course, touching the stars was going to have to wait, because he'd lost that dream the moment his parents had died when he was ten years old—the moment he had watched that starship explosion and felt a bit of his heart die with them. He'd lost that dream when he was transported to prison and then to a place called Pogtopia.

He'd lost that dream when he watched hundreds of children starve on the streets of Pogtopia. When he and two friends become the lone survivors of the Red Planet's Genocide. When they were rescued, and he was captured again.

But maybe—maybe one day, he would regain that dream. Maybe he would hunt down the mass murderer that had executed his friends and gain his revenge—but that day was not now, and now he sat in a prison and stared at the faraway stars.

Perhaps there would be people that he could call family again. People he would see again—people whom he had lost years ago. One day.

Because he was an Avian, born to be forever alone amongst broken stars.

And Avians did not fall unless they wanted to.

    Summary

They say that Humans cling to life like mold clings to bread. They say that even when the visible contamination is cut away, the mycelium remains. They say that after the Essempi Federation is no more, nothing will be left but wreckage and Humans.

    Excerpt:
Humans have fairy-blood, they say. They eat poisons for fun and know when you lie just by looking at you. When you shake their hands they can see how you die.

Centuries ago Humans called especially adept liars silver-tongued and now, a billion light years from Earth, Ted hears a Shulker call him fey-mouthed. Fey-mouths can’t tell a lie, the Shulker says in hushed tones to her companions, but will twist you up in the truth until you can’t tell up from down and leave with a fulfilled bargain you would never agree to in a thousand years.

    Summary

“Wh— what?” Tommy choked out, his voice hoarse from the lack of use all day.

The man rolled his eyes, as if he didn’t just ask a completely impolite question. “I said, do you have any booze?”

Tommy sat still. He reached into his jacket pocket, his hand finding only a plastic pen. Could he stab this man with a plastic pen?

Tommy pulled said piece of plastic out, visibly holding it up. “I have a pen.” Something about the bemused look on the man's face made Tommy click it, and again, repeatedly.

This is a legitimate work of art. I physically cannot describe the utter quality of the writing that happens here. Also absurdly sad.
