Huaisang smiles benignly, fluttering his fan, and says, “Why, Jin-zongzhu, I only mean to ask why you think someone born of a whore is filthy? Seeing as how you have no thoughts on the apparent filthiness of whores when you go to see them.”
This causes a minor uproar, which Huaisang apparently expected, as his expression doesn’t change. Jin Guangshan’s face is a vivid red, so red as to make his vermilion mark indistinguishable. Meng Yao makes a perfunctory effort to silence Huaisang, but they both know that’s all it is; he certainly won’t stop Huaisang speaking out.

“What are you doing here?” Meng Yao said, crouching down to try to scoop out the little handful of white fluff underneath his cabinet only for it to bare its infantile fangs and him and hiss, moving its butt around as if it thought his fingers ought to be running in fear from its fearsome pounce. “How did you even get in here?”
The cat – a kitten, really, small and scrawny, dirty and covered in ashes as if it had just run out of a forge, but no less passionate for it – squirmed in his hand as he picked it up.
“Who owns you?” Meng Yao asked, and the cat hissed viciously as if to shout no one owns me!

"And most importantly, radish," Wei Ying pointed at A-Yuan's nose close enough that A-Yuan's eyes went slightly crisscross, "if you feel like it's too much or you don't want to do this anymore, it is totally fine to just come back, okay?" He smiled reassuringly, tapping the small nose.
"Mhm!" A-Yuan nodded again, his head tipping forward so far to be almost considered a bow.
"Great!" Wei Ying clapped his hands together. They checked one last time if A-Yuan had everything he needed, knew the items he should get and what to do in an emergency.
Stepping out the door, Wei Ying felt like this was how a parent ought to feel. Letting go of their child slowly, letting them make their own experiences and growing independent.
He was not ready for that yet.

A-Yuan is tasked with his very first errand on his own but Wei Ying can't let go, so he follows his son and watches how he got his father a husband, as a treat.

Normally, Wei Ying is curled up next to Lan Wangji when he wakes at five. Wei Ying will be strewn about, soft limbs and dark hair fanned and sprawled, leg over Wangji's hip, arms wrapped tightly around his chest, and face pressed into his neck. Even in sleep, Wei Ying is a bundle of energy; he is always moving. Now, Wangji wakes to a cold bed, and no Wei Ying.
A series of sleepwalking episodes leaves Wei Wuxian refusing to sleep, and Lan Wangji at his wit's end on how to deal with them. It appears, however, that it is anything but simple sleepwalking. And there is no telling just what may happen if the episodes are left unchecked.
