Summary
Post-Apocalypse - A week after Peter tells Erik the truth, something… weird happens.
Raven took the bundle from Jean and, with infuriating grace, walked a few steps to him. Then—without fanfare, without asking—she placed a baby in his arms.
A very familiar baby.
“Congratulations,” she said, voice syrupy with mischief. “It’s a boy.”
The world narrowed to a single pinpoint.
Peter— his Peter—was gazing up at him, eyes wide and blinking slowly, one tiny hand curling and uncurling like he wanted to grab Erik’s coat. His hair was a silver tuft, like clouds spun over fresh snow. His mouth made a soft, questioning coo.

"I know I'm not... your Pietro," He said, looking at Erik with a tentative smile, "but... I've dealt with variants of my family before, so... if me being here helps, well..." He shrugged and added, "I'll do what I can."

Five times Pietro needed his father and one time Erik needed his son.
Pietro blinked again, the name not quite anchoring. “Wanda…” he repeated, faint. “I know that name.”
Erik’s heart cracked a little further. “You do,” he said, placing the glass beside the bed. “You always have.”
Pietro looked at him then, really looked. His eyes searched Erik’s face, narrowing faintly. Not with recognition, but with the primal, distant wariness of someone who knows they’ve seen fire but can’t yet place the burn.

The sky split open, and a voice, cold and terrible, descended from above.
“Wanda,” it said—so gently, so cruelly. “It’s a pleasure to see you, my dear.”
It was not Magneto’s voice—not truly. Not anymore. Hunter knew that tone. They had heard it too many times, felt it burn through too many of their friends.

Erik has more important matters to deal with right now—and although he had met Peter’s revelation with promise, he knows Erik doesn’t owe him anything. He isn’t a kid anymore.
So Peter goes through his days pretending as if he isn’t eagerly awaiting Erik’s eventual arrival like some pathetic idiot. As if everything is perfectly normal and okay.
But it’s not. It’s not because for the first time, Peter feels like he’s sinking. That with each passing night, each tiring day, he’s drowning. And he can’t do anything about it—doesn’t even know what to do about it.
