The room would have accepted the excuse without a second thought if it wasn't for the fact that America's hair was limp and unkempt, darker at the roots from missed washes. His skin was pale, almost sallow, and the dark circles under his eyes looked like bruises. The very sight immediately sent quiet alarm bells ringing in Japan’s mind.
Their eyes met, just for a second.
America flinched and looked away.
That brief glance said everything. It wasn’t embarrassment. It was guilt.
Canada noticed too. He always did. Chewing on the inside of his cheek, too unsure to speak.
England noticed most of all. How could he not?He’d practically raised the boy. How could he not see the slumped posture, the hollow brightness in his voice. None of it was right.

Summary
The Sun is always a strong figure, a powerful hand, a worthy provider. When people are asked to picture or visualize the sun they think of a strong figurehead with perfect everything. The sun was something special, it gave life to a single planet in the solar system and supplied the light for the moon to get attention as well. But even so, in the end, a sun is a star.
Stars will experience supernovae but if they are small enough this doesn’t happen and they just expand and burn out, dying in that way as well. A burst, that spreads out the matter. It’s an explosion, and even before, there are always signs that that star is burning out, the dimming of its lights, the deteriorating of its physical state. Of course, nobody notices because there are thousands of stars in the sky. But when the sun does it, it's something people try to ignore or brush under the rug. It's hard thinking about the thing you rely on for your life…
is just as fragile as you are.
