Summary
What will it take to make Izzy and Stede bond with one another, and eventually reach a Steddyhands equilibrium?
How about putting them in a cell together and subjecting them to torture? Izzy doesn’t need to *like* Bonnet to be protective of him, or to give him some tips for enduring what he’s about to face. Comforting him afterwards is almost obligatory, even if Izzy does decide to do more than is strictly necessary. And when the tables are turned, and Izzy’s the one needing comfort, Bonnet turns out to be almost competent, almost brave, almost … likeable?
Once they’re safe and back on the Revenge, Ed is disconcerted by their new closeness. Izzy is the darkness he has left behind, so why does Stede insist on seeing him as a human who can grow and change?

Richard’s plan was to kill Henry. Even if it wasn’t for the fact his enemy was a waste of water and … you know … made out of meat, if it came to that; the incessant talking and praying and singing fucking hymns was driving him mad. But then Henry, never the sharpest harpoon on the rack, takes the insult ‘suck my cock’ a bit too literally and Richard realises maybe there is a point to keeping him alive after all …

Summary
Starbuck loves Ahab profoundly (though surely not, he tells himself, in an Ishmael-and-Queequeg-ish sort of way). At the beginning of the voyage, when Ahab is mysteriously incapacitated in his cabin, that love means offering help, support and comfort. But what does it mean toward the end, when it comes into conflict with Starbuck’s love and duty towards the rest of the crew, himself, his family and – above all – God?
Canon divergence from the time the Pequod meets the Rachel. Starbuck gets his Quaker on with some non-violent resistance, but in the chaos that follows Ahab hits his head and loses his memory of all events since just before his first encounter with Moby Dick. Or so it seems … Is it really amnesia, or is it a way of backing down from his doomed quest without losing face?

Stede/Ed/Izzy, protecting the captain(s), partial/full amputation, recoveryPartially inspired by other prompts where the crew gets captured in some way and aren't able to escape, and Izzy purposely pisses off their captors to draw attention away from Stede and on to himself. Basically, he opens his mouth and doesn't stop talking. He says anything that comes to mind to piss these guys off, up to the point where they threaten to cut his tongue out and then some.
would love to see the fallout (stitches/surgery, complications when it comes to performing his duties as First Mate, how it affects his relationship with Ed and Stede, the general trauma of the whole thing, and/or anything else along those lines).pre-relationship

Perhaps God grants respite even off the howling, pagan Patagonian coast, or perhaps it was Starbuck’s hand, which yet lay on Ahab’s leg, the two opposing forces – the frozen fingers and the fevered thigh – having gone some way toward reaching a balance.
