He’d never been able to really do anything for himself. He could only watch as his own life fell apart around him, as his parents slowly grew to resent him for being such a failure, as his friends left him behind to achieve something better and greater, as the world around him changed and grew and improved and he always stayed the same. He could just watch from the sidelines.
It didn’t change now, as he could only watch Rolan slowly lean over Kian’s body, flipping it over to the side for easier access to the tear that neatly sliced it in half. He could do nothing but watch as Rolan took a slow, careful whiff of the body, and then, in a split second, plunged his face straight into the creature.

Freak week cannibalism and weird gore prompts :) Rolan has just a lil snack :3

It’s late. Much later than Rolan would prefer to be up, Kian knows. But he’s sitting across from him anyway, sipping on his milkshake and occasionally grabbing fries from the basket between them.
They’re the only ones here, apart from the skeleton crew of workers who promptly disappeared into the back as soon as they got their order.
It’s nice. Private. Here, Kian can pretend like they’re the only two people in the world.

Rolan’s got a serious case of bed head, black hair falling over his face, greying strands sticking up at the sides. His crewneck sweater with the logo of whatever fancy college he went to hangs loose on his shoulders, exposing a bit of his collarbone that Rand desperately wants to bite marks into. He reaches up and runs his hands through Rolan’s hair, smoothing back the grey strands.
He swallows. He wants to snap again, say something snarky so Rolan shuts him up, but all he can muster up is a soft “Hi.”
“Hey,” Rolan whispers.

It's been a year since Galloway, and Rand is still finding it hard to believe he survived. Rolan's here to remind him he's alive.

“Rand?” He says as his face is tipped to the side, “What’s up?”
Rand narrows his eyes a little, leans in to inspect the skin above Rolan’s eyebrow. “I need to make sure.”
Rolan sucks in a breath as Rand pulls his face in the other direction to get a look at the stubble that crawls its way up his skin. “Make sure of what, man?” he says, tensing a little when Rand moves his other hand to Rolan’s shoulder to steady himself.
Rand continues his survey of Rolan’s face for a moment, at one point even squishing Rolan’s cheeks in a signal to open his mouth.
“You…” he says at length, shaking his head a little as if to clear it, “You. I need to make sure you’re… you.”

Rand wishes he could snap his jaw shut. He wishes a lot of things, right now, but his body truly has a mind of its own. There’s nothing he can do as his jaw unhinges further.

It still sounds like a prayer. Rand remembers going to church on Sundays. He leans in closer to Rolan, who sobs and thrashes and shakes and can’t break free.

“Kian and I-” and then Rand pauses, adjusting his sunglasses to try and hide his embarrassment as he realises exactly what the next line of conversation would reveal. “Well, we go for a lot of aimless drives. And we found a way to pass the time.”
“Oh?” Rolan raises an eyebrow.

Rand’s car finally breaks down. It proves to be a useful thing, though.

“What?”
“Dance with me?” He repeated, turning to look at him imploringly, a charming smile on his handsome face.“I don’t really know how.” Miles demurred, but suspected Julian was not going to accept that.
“That doesn’t matter.” He pressed, and Miles sighed. “Come on! It’s not as though anyone here will care that you don’t know how to Waltz.”
“I don’t really think…” He started, but Julian was on his feet holding his hand out in invitation, and Miles sighed, rolled his eyes, and took it.
When they got out to the floor Miles placed his hands on Julian to lead him, but Julian moved his hand from his back to his shoulder pointedly. “We can’t both lead.”
“Well, why should you get to?”
“It will be easier if I do it.” Julian said, “You said you don’t dance, remember?”
“And you do?”
“Ballroom and contemporary.” He responded, “They were requirements when I was at boarding school.”
“Fine, you lead.”
