Summary
Because Peter is good. He is good, and holy, and pure, and Rumi himself doesn’t even feel worthy to be in his presence. The marks and scars that cover Peter now feel like dishonour, and Exandroth so greedily using him as a vessel is beyond unforgivable. Rumi may be a godslayer, but Peter is his exception. If Peter would let him, Rumi would worship every aspect of Peter, every last detail.
But Peter’s skin crawls. Peter’s body is not always his own. And Exandroth, given the chance, would surely stamp Peter out for good, would bite down on him with those inhumanly sharp teeth and let him bleed until he can’t anymore.
-OR-
A character study of Rumi, to a degree, as well as an exploration of the physical and mental effects Exandroth has on Peter.

Summary
The two sit in content silence for some time- William’s not sure how long. It’s enough that he gets a little lost in it, basks in the simple presence of Vyncent, and in how nice it all feels, despite everything going on around them.
It’s when the rain grows heavier that William decides he’s got nothing left to lose now. Slow and careful, because even as the world is ending around them he’s scared of making the wrong move, he moves his hand to bump against Vyncent’s own. A second later, he intertwines their pinkies.
Vyncent, in response, pulls his hand away- only to properly take William’s in his own a second later. William stares at the gravel path like it’s the most interesting thing in the world, fighting against the burning in his cheeks. Blood runs through the rocks and carves gentle paths and rivers, dividing the gravel like water would, but with far more malice to it.
-OR-
In the last hour of the world, William and Vyncent decide they have nothing left to lose. Four friends hold each other as they die.

Summary
“Got any ways to pass the time?” Rolan asks suddenly, saving him from trying to find an appropriate conversation starter. It’s too bad he responds without thinking a mere second later.
“Kian and I-” and then Rand pauses, adjusting his sunglasses to try and hide his embarrassment as he realises exactly what the next line of conversation would reveal. “Well, we go for a lot of aimless drives. And we found a way to pass the time.”
“Oh?” Rolan raises an eyebrow.

Summary
When William leans in, his mind is a thrum of thoughts, like a heartbeat of its own. Will he feel again, maybe more than he can at this moment? Would the press of his lips to Vyncent’s own set him on fire and breathe him back to life, like a phoenix being born from the ashes?
He wants to take. Wants to lean in and leech all the warmth and life from Vyncent, wants to kiss him in the hopes it might revive his long-dead body. Could he press in close and finally feel the sun on his skin again? Would Vyncent let him; would he give all he has over to William at that moment?

“Wait, wait, Vynce, chill out, let me help-”
William manages to haul him back to his feet. Vyncent stares apprehensively down at his own feet, the skates he wears and the ice below.
“Here.” William holds out a hand, palm upturned. “Take my hand. I’ll keep you steady.”
Vyncent squints at it. “I’ll just take you down with me.”
“Hey, I’ve got muscles!” William protests. “I’ll be fine. Take my stupid hand before you end up on your ass again.”

Summary
Gillion feels a rush of emotion as he recalls the last time they danced in the rain, and how much has changed since then. There’s new scars on his hands, across his face, his chest. He’s missing teeth.

Summary
Perhaps one day Gillion could put it into words that do it justice. Instead, he casts his gaze to the sea. She is beautiful too, sunlight reflecting and sparkling back at him. He aches with the memories of her depths, of the sights hidden beneath the waves, and wonders dimly if Caspian misses her too. None of the rest of the crew could understand, except perhaps for Finn, but Gillion isn’t going to trouble his grandfather with such thoughts, and Caspian is a sea and then some away.
From where he is, standing by the railing, leaned over the side with the breeze and seaspray in his face, he almost thinks that it feels religious. The cold air hits him with the rise and fall of the ship on the waves and he swears that under his palms, the Albatross breathes.

Summary
“I don’t know,” Gillion admits. “But as it stands, it must be this way.”
But that’s not what it is, really. The words leave Gillion’s mouth and he knows it’s only a half-truth. That in truth, while he loves Caspian so deeply he aches with it, he wishes this were something fate had not touched. For one singular good thing to be his and his to choose alone. Instead there’s a mark like a brand on his hip that matches with the one inked into Caspian’s back, and he loathes it.
Caspian rubs a hand up over his own still-bare shoulder; his fingertips graze the mark between his shoulder blades. “Then I will be here, on this ship. Waiting.”
