Summary
A year ago at that bachelor party, so drunk he was draped across Buck’s lap with his nose buried in all the intoxicating silky heat beneath the notch of Buck’s jaw, Eddie asked Buck what he smelled like to him.
It’s not a question you’re supposed to ask, but Eddie forgets the rules sometimes. Ignores them. Things like that don’t matter between him and Buck, they never have.
He’s still not sure what he expected Buck to say. Nothing, maybe, which he assumed was the truth, Eddie’s scent faded to barely echo of what it should be. But Buck had taken Eddie’s jaw in one hand, had tipped his head back so the line of his neck was bared to Buck like an offering, had stopped to scent him with his mouth still open, had said against Eddie’s sweat-tacky skin, so low his voice thrummed in his chest, You’re the sweetest thing I’ve ever met.

“I suppose you could say I’m your guardian angel,” the man murmurs. His breath fogs pale between them. All of him is unnaturally warm, like Dean’s touching somebody with the sun sewn up beneath their skin. “I have known you, Dean Winchester, for a very long time.”

Tommy should ask if he’s sure. Tommy should remind him that Eddie is just down the hall, and that even as tired as he looked, there’s no way he’s fallen asleep in the maybe five minutes that have passed since Evan left him. Tommy should tease Evan for never being able to stay quiet when he’s getting fucked, and Tommy should propose that they do something else.
He should. But all of his blood runs south at the thought of staking such an unmistakable claim on Evan; at leaving Eddie with no doubts about just how good Evan is getting it from Tommy.
“I can do that,” Tommy agrees readily.

Except for the part where Superman hadn't been seen in at least a week and nobody knew why, Lois was acting kind of weird, and Bruce Wayne was insisting that Clark was the only reporter he'd allow to run a feature on the crashed alien ship in the park, since Wayne Enterprises had been granted control of the site. And the way Clark felt every time Wayne looked at him a little too long definitely wasn't helping.
But it was fine. Clark was normal, there was nothing wrong with him, and everything was fine.

After Goose's death during a fight with a kaiju, Maverick left the PPDC and didn't look back. But his self-destructive bender gets interrupted by Charlie Blackwood, showing up to invite him to participate in a brand-new weapons development program, codename Top Gun: the first two-pilot jaegers to ever be deployed in the fight to defend humanity. That means Maverick's going to have to get back in a piloting rig again—and he's going to have to do it while drifting with another pilot. Drift compatibility means getting each other, understanding each other, on a level nobody else can beat; so whoever his partner is, at least he's not going to get stuck with the Iceman, who pretty much hates him.

“God, don’t you have an off switch?” June groans, laughing as she chucks a piece of popcorn in Alex’s direction while he rambles passionately about the international legal implications of the Red Wedding. Nora cackles. “Whatever you do to thank Henry for putting up with you, it’s not nearly enough. Jesus, I can’t believe he put a ring on your loud mouth.”
Or: Alex is fine. Really, he’s fine — he just wants Henry to stay, even if Alex is too much. Henry just wants his husband back.

They got out into the jungle without too much trouble, in the end. They'd have to circle around the compound to reach the coordinates for the extraction point, granted, which was probably going to add on at least an hour. Which meant Waller wasn't going to be too happy at first, and Flag wouldn't be either—such a fuckin' worrywart, he hated it when any of his teams went unaccounted for for more than about ten minutes. But as these things went, that was in solid B+ territory.
Point was, there was no way, after all that, that GQ was getting taken out by being sneezed on by a goddamn flower.

Benitez rushed forward to help him out, though, after the grenade went off; and the guy's freaking out on her, twisting out of her grip and baring his teeth, shoulders bunched, clutching his gun at an awkward angle like he's planning to use it for a club instead of shooting it.
"Hey," GQ says, starting toward them, and he's distracted at first by the wide-eyed stare Benitez gives him, the way her gun comes up. It takes him a second to meet the guy's eyes, a second to realize that it's—that they're his.
