Pretty standard night, all things considered, but Kristen ends up on high alert making sure that Gorgug doesn’t need his hoodie back. Which means when his gaze starts lingering on someone on the field, she takes notice. When his heart rate spikes when someone waves up at the bleachers, and he waves back half-heartedly, his cheeks a slightly darker green than they normally are, she notices that too.

The nurse writes something down. “What day of the week is it?”
“I think it’s a Friday?”
“What’s the month?”
“June.”
He writes down something for a lot longer than before. “The date?”
“June… third, I think?” Ragh steals a glance at Seacaster, who’s looking positively mortified, chewing on his nails.
“Alright,” the nurse mutters. “What year is it?”
And, well,
clearly the answer he gives is the wrong one.
After the most confusing day of his life, Ragh wakes up four, three-and-a-half years in the future. Things are different now.

The Brightbell Nest was by far the nicest place to eat on the block they meandered into. The sign hanging out front was hand painted with little blue birds outlining the name. Chatter and candlelight from inside were so inviting that Rayla almost walked right past the elegant host that greeted them.
“Do you have a reservation?”
Disappointment flashed across Rayla’s face.
No, it couldn't be like this after a long day of anticipating dinner together.
Before Callum could intervene, the host continued. “Well, we do have some space in the couple's section- with a sunset view over the valley, of course. And a suite for the night-”
“That's great!” Callum exclaimed without thinking. “We are… um.”
“Two people!” chimed in Rayla, siding up to him.
“Yeah! A couple!” Callum fumbled for Rayla’s hand, face hot.
Rayla also blushed, squeezing Callum’s hand. It hadn't been that long since they’d held hands, but with this context… “Right! We do things like eat together and go on long walks on the beach all the time!”
