    Summary

    [Audio Length: 18:21]

“To the Hells with finding the Sith,” Obi-Wan said. He could hear his voice rising with each word. “Blast it, Anakin, ending the war is not worth your life!”

    “But the prophecy—”

“It is not worth your life—”

“What if it is?” Anakin demanded, his own voice a fierce whisper. “We could get killed every time we go into battle, but we do it anyway. Every mission we take is for the greater good of the Republic. You taught me that. How is this any different?”

    Bookmarker's Notes

I failed you. Not because I couldn’t force you into the frozen mold of a Jedi, but because when I told you, Trust your feelings, Anakin—

“Trust your feelings, Luke. They will lead you to the truth.”

    —I never meant it.

I've always headcanon'd that Obi-Wan didn't train Luke when he was younger primarily because he didn't want to, rather than out of respect for Owen and Beru's wishes. So I adore fics that explore this idea — that Obi-Wan chose not to train Luke earlier for one reason or another.

What makes this story really stand out for me is Obi-Wan and Luke's interaction and how Obi-Wan's epiphany happens as he's getting to know Luke. I'm a sucker for parallels and introspection, so this fic ticked all the right boxes for me.

    Summary

And then the Force tightens, and the reflection in the mirror changes, and Obi-Wan drops his lightsaber in shock, the blade retracting upon impact with the ground.

Because what he’s seeing in the mirror now is not himself, not his ragged, beaten body and overgrown beard and filthy hair.

    It’s Anakin.

About a year into his exile on Tatooine, Obi-Wan encounters a strange mirror that shows him all he could've had, and although he resolves to never come back, he just can't seem to stay away.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Anakin’s eyes bore into his, so heartbreakingly unknowing, and Obi-Wan leans forward and presses his forehead to the place on the mirror where Anakin’s forehead should be, half expecting to feel warm skin against his own. Instead, all he feels is smooth glass, cold enough to burn.

This fic ripped my heart out of my ribcage and stomped on it. Repeatedly. The writing is A++ and it's everything I ever wanted from a story about sad desert hermit Obi-Wan.

Disney wishes their writing was half this good. Disney could NEVER.

    Summary

A future incarnation of the Doctor captures a future incarnation of the Master after yet another of the latter's human-takeover plots gone wrong. With no Lucy Saxon to put him out of his misery and no intention of returning to Missy's cooperative ways, the Master is well and truly trapped this time. And it gets worse: the Doctor is dragging him on a hike.

Not really Ten and Simm!Master but I can easily imagine it as them. Honestly, I just love Ten and Simm!Master.

All the kudos for how well this fic captures the complexity of their relationship.

    Summary

It has been suggested that after his eighth regeneration, the Doctor begins lying about his age. The official story is that he has simply lost track. This is a third possible explanation for the discrepancy between his ages in the new and old series.

Headcanon accepted. Just one of the many reasons why the Time War should have never been shown on screen — nothing could have ever captured the scope of it, and I will be forever bitter that DoTD didn't understand that.
