Shane put his head between his knees and tried to breathe. God, Boston. They hated him there; it was so far away; he was fucking their captain.

Summary
After a disastrous final shift on July 4, Robby leaves for his sabbatical.
Eight days later, somewhere in the Badlands, he awakens to a dozen missed calls and messages from back home. Something terrible has happened. Frank Langdon has been shot, and he might not make it.
Consumed by worry and by guilt, Robby returns to Pittsburgh, the memory of his last, terrible conversation with Frank playing on a loop in his head.
He hopes it is not too late to make amends of his own.
“Is he dead?” Robby manages to rasp out. His body is curling in on itself. He can feel himself unravelling. It’s too familiar. It’s all too familiar. This can’t be happening. “Is Frank fucking dead, Dana?”

Summary
Langdon comes back from rehab with feverish eyes and a near-constant grimace. He's just as fidgety as ever, just as snarky, and just as competent, but he doesn't look Robby in the eyes. Robby returns the favor. The trust between them disintegrated as soon as he pushed Langdon out the door. As soon as Langdon decided not to tell Robby he was struggling. Neither of them know how to get it back.
Robby has to wonder though; if he'd tried harder to fix their relationship, maybe this wouldn't have happened.
Frank Langdon angst, based off the original character description that he overcame a 'devastating back injury' to become a doctor.

Dennis Whitaker has been working in the Pitt for more than a few months now. He came back for his residency despite the traumatic events that happened on his first shift when he was just on rotation. Now in his residency, Dennis feels happier than before. He has a roof above his head without the constant fear of being caught, food that he shares with his now best friend, Trinity Santos, and generally a more experienced and updated worldview, that's also thanks to his best friend. However, there's something missing that he couldn't quite put his finger on.
Frank Langdon has experienced a multitude of peripeteia in his life. But not like this. Somehow, he's having the worst time of his life. Shittier than when he was just a medical student trying to cram all his knowledge in his brain and ensuring it stays there to pass his exams. He knows he could not even blame that goddamn student, Santos. His therapist have helped him realize that without her being concerned about their patients, he wouldn't have stopped his spiral towards his addiction. Newly divorced and with therapy and rehab bills to pay, he struggles to stay afloat. He's drowning. But men are notoriously prideful creatures. Insert Dennis Whitaker.

Ilya hums, playing the card he's been considering for this entire conversation. “We could make more interesting, yes? A bet.”
“A bet,” Shane repeats, eyes flashing. “Like what?”
The reporter cuts in. “What about wearing the other player’s jersey?”
They both turn to her, and Shane says, “Like, the loser wears the winner’s jersey?”
“Maybe at the next game in a couple of months?”
“Is a good idea,” Ilya muses, nudging Shane’s elbow. “You will look better in my jersey than in Montreal jersey.”
Shane makes a low noise, his eyes holding a bit of a spark when he looks back to Ilya. It’s what Ilya was hoping for—the tiniest crack in the mask. He can see a hint of exasperated affection around the corners of Shane’s eyes, a little bit of fire burning just beneath the surface. It sends a thrill down Ilya’s spine, and he wonders if Shane will be snarky when Ilya gets him naked tonight.
“That’s not happening,” Shane replies, shaking his head. “Because you’re not winning.”
