Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.

Shane gets almost dizzy as he pictures a future (soonsoonsoon) where he gets to come home to this every day.
Keys that clatter in the bowl by the front door, and a call of Malysh, I’m home! A shared shopping list and laundry that gets so incredibly mixed that they both forget who originally bought which clothes. Grumbling about the kitchen being left untidy and arguing about weekend plans, because there now are weekend plans to even argue about.
Shane has to take a deep breath, at risk if passing out from the force of his desire. It drums beneath his sternum, the steady pulse of want that he knows so well. The same want he feels every time he steps out onto the ice.
or, it's Shane's first time seeing Ilya's house in Ottawa. He feels normal about it.

Summary
Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

He had his hookups and the names of the best restaurants in each city they player in. If JJ had a dog, Shane would probably mix its name up with Drapeau's. The others didn't get that however pathetic or sad they might think Shane, Shane thought the same of them tenfold when they missed shots at practice or ate fast food on weekdays. The worst part, really, was how sure he’d been. How he’d asked his father a million questions about the ice - how it formed, what time of year you could start checking it, what key weather factors led to Good Ice, what, exactly, was good enough to skate on - and his father had indulged him because Shane had never had a focus that wasn’t at least indirectly related to hockey and it hadn’t seemed remotely out of the norm for Shane to be asking.
He’d pulled up an internet search to triple check, and he’d been positive – absolutely positive – the ice could withstand at least twice his weight.
He’d miscalculated, somewhere.

There hadn’t been a whole lot of tape, back then, not on a bunch of kids who were likely to get chewed up and spit out by the KHL, but Rozanov was a special case – his agent had clearly known his aim was for North American leagues, and there’d been a few tapes leaked here and there of the fourteen, fifteen, sixteen year old phenom who had more trick plays up his sleeve than Yuna, personally, thought was true hockey. The video of his spin on the Michigan had made the rounds in David’s McGill email chain, and Yuna had tipped her chin up and sworn up and down he’d be a one-trick pony who’d be flat on his ass the first time he tried that shit in the pros.
Shane had downloaded the video to his desktop and studied the tape like he did old games of Scott Hunter.
