“Serves her right for assuming,” Samira snorts. She shakes her head, ears growing hot.
McKay cuffs her on the shoulder. She steps into Samira’s light, her chain glinting around her throat.
“Trinity probably thinks she knows every queer girl—and girl-adjacent queer—in the Pittsburgh area,” she says, smiling. Her eyes are warm and bright. “Not all of us need to proclaim it.”

Before Baran can answer and tell her that no, she doesn’t need a drink and that she appreciates the invite but clearly this isn’t for her, Yolanda’s hand is sliding around her waist and pulling her in closer. Baran’s face flushes immediately, eyes averting Yolanda’s intense gaze. She leans down slightly to talk into her ear.
“Maybe you need something else to loosen up?” The music changes to a familiar song and Baran lets Yolanda move her so her back is pressed against her chest and, more importantly, her ass is pressed against her crotch. He said gesturing to the woman who was supposedly Dr. Mckay. Victoria had the same feeling she had the other night of being struck by lightning, although this one was a mix of surprise and feelings of attraction. Because there stood the drummer from last night. She looked about as shocked as Victoria did, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly agape, her signature choppy bangs framing her face beautifully like they did last night. Victoria reluctantly trotted over to Mckay, still in utter shock.
"Hi."

Mckay began to introduce herself but froze, they had already met before, last night.

“I’m, like… twice your age.” Cassie huffs out a chuckle as she takes another sip of her drink, eyes never leaving Victoria.
Victoria would say it’s because she’s drunk, her brain a half-second behind her mouth, “That’s hot, no?”
Cassie barks out a laugh, leaning forward against the bar, enough to catch others' attention. The sound is loud, unguarded, wolfish at best and Victoria can’t seem to look away, not from the crinkles at the corners of her eyes.
When the laughter dies down, Cassie exhales, elbow sliding onto the bar as she props her cheek in her palm, taking another languid sip.
Victoria isn’t embarrassed however, because even through her tipsy-haze, she can make out the faint flush along Cassie’s cheekbones, something that definitely wasn’t there before.
“No,” Cassie says.
Then, after a moment of silence, their eyes still locked, Cassie continues, “It’s dangerous.”

Victoria nodded, her hand tightening on the strap of her pink tote bag as McKay smiled down at her with pretty blue eyes and slightly messy hair. Behind her navel, a familiar fluttering took up, like a million little wings were taking flight in her stomach. Dread climbed up her spine as she realized what the fluttering meant.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, pounded in her head like a drum. The word hit the inside of her skull with all the force of a hammer, over and over and over again.
Because if a crush on Mateo had been silly, one on Dr. McKay was fucking idiotic. But the attention felt so nice. And when McKay was murmuring instruction and praise into Victoria’s ear, she felt so much more in control than she usually did.
And, really, there wasn’t much more Victoria wanted than just a little bit of control.
