Professor Molloy resides in the gloomy, fire-and-brimstone walls of St. Thomas University over the Winter break — circa the year 2000. Christmas plans: survive his second divorce, deal with his feelings for a random, online stranger and handle the tension with his obnoxious, European TA, who he’s now stuck with for the next few weeks.

His maker blinked at him. “What?”
Well, here goes nothing. Daniel decided to fully lean into it. Why not try this angle? “It’s only fair, given that you didn’t even have the guts to tell me we had kids.”

It's New Year's Eve, 1988. Daniel's been a vampire for over three years and the others have left the Night Island. Armand has become distant and cold, and Daniel is not about to ring in the new year without at least trying to fix things between them, no matter how frustrating that may prove to be.
Armand looked up from his computer with mild curiosity. He said nothing. He’d cut his auburn hair short, which he did often these days, and he wore a gray hooded sweatshirt that was too big for him. One of Daniel’s. That was surprising, but maybe he’d merely grabbed something at random. Rings decorated nearly every one of his pale fingers, even his thumbs.
“It’s New Year’s Eve,” Daniel said.
Armand blinked. He still said nothing. Just stared at him with those big, amber eyes of his.
“Come on, we’re going out.”
“No,” Armand said, firmly. “Please close the door.”
Daniel folded his arms across his chest. “No.” -

Lestat’s thoughts flutter around him. An English phrase, poorly pronounced: must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? Then, back to French. Fuck me, he smells awful. Very unfair of him to look like Saint Sebastian and yet smell like a sewer.
Carefully, Armand extracts his fangs and lifts his nose from where it was scrunched against the skin of Lestat’s neck, the skin that smells like Marseilles soap and traces of stage paint. Armand pulls down his upper lip, works his jaw until his fangs recede. He glares.
Misunderstanding, feckless life choices, and hot water in 1795.

The past few minutes have been spent staring at the back of his head, counting each white hair he sees tangled amongst his curls– He’s noticed seven so far, his count not including the lone straggler that he found on Daniel’s chest last week… Either way, his boy doesn’t possess the ability to dip his prying fingers into his head even though he begs for it, knowing that Armand wouldn’t be able to give him that power even if he did pass on the dark gift. So there’s no reason he should be mad at him for something he doesn’t know about.

What the fuck?
Armand in a faded AC/DC shirt. Daniel knew he had that exact shirt buried in the back of his closet. Old and worn with holes along the seams. A sleep shirt, a comfort he’d never been able to get rid of. Why would Armand have it? And, more fucking notably, why was his own goddamn self out cold against Armand’s side?

Daniel lets him get a good look at it, its sharpened edge and polished faces that fog up with the humidity of Armand’s quick, panting breaths. Then he turns it so the sword faces outward and pulls it toward himself and Armand, the wide back of it crushing the Prince’s delicate throat.
