Summary
Like making a New Year’s Resolution, Richie types. At 12 am, when your body feels like it’s made of knives, you decide you’re going to start going to yoga. And then 6 am comes, and your bed is safer and more comfortable than it’s ever been.
And the yogi doesn’t call you. And you don’t call him. And you start wondering if he hates you; or if he’s busy trying out positions with other people. And you’re not sure if he’s actually even a yogi, because he’s never commented on your form, and it’s possible that he’s actually a total yogaphobe. Besides; growing up, the only yoga lessons you got were on the corpse pose, so you seriously doubt you’re a good candidate for partner yoga anyway.
And your attempts at writing stand-up get fucking bleak, because you can’t stop thinking about your yogi, and maybe you should just call him already. Or face the prospect that all this yoga suppression is going to explode in some weird, unhealthy way. Like hot yoga.

Eddie’s had this alarming habit recently of staring at Richie’s face while Richie is talking and completely tuning out whatever Richie is saying to instead scrutinize each one of his physical characteristics and decide whether or not he finds them attractive. It’s probably flattering because, on the whole, his judgment is: attractive. But the entire exercise has an air of anger and incredulity that makes it difficult for Richie to feel too smug about it. Eddie thinks Richie’s ears are cute and he wants to bite them, but he’s fucking pissed about it, apparently.
Or, Richie has a side-effect from the deadlights: he can read Eddie’s mind.

“Do you want me to help?” Richie offers. “Little back rub before you get back to work?” When Eddie doesn’t answer right away, Richie smirks and adds, “Rub one out real quick?” making a perfunctory handjob gesture.
Eddie pulls a face, but doesn’t dignify that with a response. “Maybe? I don’t know.” He is in a lot of discomfort, so he considers it for only a moment longer. “Sure. Why not.”

It wasn’t a nice day, but a yellow Volkswagen bug rolled past them, taking its time, probably carrying God, and Eddie punched him. He remembered. Richie wished Eddie had hit him harder, so he could remember Eddie remembering, and then he wished he weren’t so fucked in the head.
Eddie and Richie come of age together twice.

For a moment, Richie can’t possibly fathom what he means. Doesn’t mind what? Doesn’t mind that there’s a picture of him kissing the weird man who he killed a clown with at the top of everybody’s trending page? Doesn’t mind the word boyfriend tossed at him like it’s something that could possibly fit?
“What,” Richie rasps, throat dry, words toneless.
It would be funny, the way Eddie’s looking at him, if Richie weren’t so damn terrified. “Like, I’ll do it,” Eddie says. There is acute discomfort radiating off of all his sharp points. “Be your boyfriend or whatever.”
