Reki was a total dick to the kid, basically ghosted him -and everyone else, truthfully-, and then never properly apologized. They’ve talked since then, but also not really. Not about anything important. Because Reki is a coward. Miya has every right to be pissed at him.

Mike does not reply. Jonathan glances over his shoulder, mid-step, and pulls up short in confusion at what he sees. Mike is still by the van where the darkness is deepest, his white t-shirt dappled with darker shadows, standing stock-still. Unnervingly still. Stiller than Jonathan has ever seen him. No bouncing leg, no tapping finger, no nothing; he’s just standing there, staring down at his blood-covered hands in a faraway sort of fascination.

However, they discover that they don't have any classes together and drift apart making new friends outside of their childhood friends or focus on their separate hobbies. Then, a rumor happens that further puts a wedge in between Mike and Will. Now, on graduation night, Mike and Will try to make amends and perhaps confess their feelings, only for things to go astray as the next day they have switched bodies. After not seeing eye to eye in so long, perhaps this is their chance to be in each other's shoes.

Summary
In an effort to close the Master Gate that’s tearing Hawkins apart, Eleven makes a deal with the Mind Flayer: the Hive will contain the threat of Henry's power as long as people stay out of the Upside Down. Interests mutual for once, they work together to seal the gates for good—but in His final act of infuriated defeat, Henry captures Mike as the barrier between worlds closes, never to reopen.
Will is the only one around when Mike is taken. He’s the only one who believes Mike is still alive, stuck in Henry’s clutches and in desperate need of a rescue.
When Eleven and the others refuse to break the world-saving truce without proof that it won’t be a wasted effort with disastrous consequences, Will is left trying to find answers (and Mike) on his own.

Mike gets stuck in the upside down after el and henry make a truce— if the group stops opening gates and doesn’t enter the upside down anymore, henry won’t attack them. They leave Mike inside, and after a few weeks he’s declared dead, even when Will has visions of him in the upside down(he can see, talk to, and touch Mike). People think Will is crazy and he spends 2 and a half years keeping Mike alive in the upside down while everyone thinks hes insane

After a lifetime of getting bullied for being a nerd, he’d rather show up to school covered in live ants, but it actually goes fine. Weirdly well, even. Jennifer Hayes asks him to carry her books to Geometry, and Denise King enthusiastically volunteers to be his lab partner in Chem. Will is all too aware of the attraction he somehow poses to the school’s most sought-after girls, but this feels like another level. Maybe it’s a charity case thing now, because of the glasses.
