Subspace T. Mine's POV (Current Day in the Phighting Universe)
[As with all my stories, none of this writing is final and it is subject to change frequently!]
Blackrock wasn't a feelings kinda region (I thought I freaking spelt 'religion' and I was gonna cry, help me). Blackrock was focused around success and high standards, not emotional connection and friendship. Subspace continuously repeated those exact words to himself in his head until they echoed inside his science-oriented mind. Blackrock is NOT rooting for your supposed romantic feelings for the same guy that ripped your left eye out after you pretty much went rabid prior to that. Subspace groaned to himself, the sound muffled under his gas mask, Why is this what I'm telling myself?? You absolute dumbass!
"SUBSPACE, MOVE IT-" Ban Hammer's voice bellowed from a few feet away.
Subspace snapped out of his thoughts and managed to dodge out the way of Shuriken's silver projectiles, one of them barely clipping his shoulder. Ban Hammer shoved the scientist aside with his burly, armored arms, shielding Subspace from more shurikens from the ninja-like Inphernal. The glinting weapons embedded themselves firmly in his thick armor, effectively reducing any damage Subspace would've taken.
"SCIENTIST, MOVE YOUR ASS! NOW!" The warden thundered, twirling his huge hammer in his hands, flinging projectiles in the opposing direction.
Subspace nodded fast before he could really process and analyze the question like he usually did, darting off in the other direction. Unfortunately, he wasn't keeping his eyes, or well—eye—in front of him, and intersected with someone else. The scientist smacked into the other Inphernal, the impact sending him flat onto the concrete of BOGGIO Skatepark right onto his behind. Subspace slowly sat up, rubbing his forehead, Ow...
"Are you alright? It looked like that hurt," A familiar voice asked.
Subspace squinted upward, only to lock gazes with his rival, Medkit. Subspace scooted back pathetically at the realization, desperately pleading to his pointy ears that they wouldn't be burning red, Shit, shit, shit, SHIT- Of course, it's Medkit! Just my luck...!
Medkit stalled for a moment, reluctantly reaching his hand out to his enemy, "...You're acting odd."
Subspace's eye remained on Medkit longer than it normally would have, before he shook his head fast enough to knock his brain out, "I'm fine! I can handle myself!" He insisted.
Medkit's left eye narrowed in suspicion at the strangely weak sentence, "Right. You didn't hit your head too hard, did you?" The healer's mint-furred deer ears twitched inquisitively.
Subspace broke eye contact, "No, I'm fine, I already told you...!" He crossed his arms stubbornly.
Medkit shook his head in exasperation, yanking the scientist to his feet by the back of his Blackrockian uniform, "C'mon, we don't have time to mess around, because we're on the same team."
Subspace squealed, pointy ears flicking wildly, "HEY, DON'T- DON'T TOUCH ME-" He argued feebly.
Medkit ignored Subspace entirely, well no, he listened, too literally, and released Subspace. The scientist stumbled forward and flopped into the concrete for the second time. Medkit observed the whole thing with the same expression of an Inphernal spectating a slow-motion video of a train veering off the rails.
Subspace clumsily shot to his feet, spinning around, his now red-tinted pointy ears jerking fast enough to generate windspeed, "YOU- YOU JUST-" He jabbed a clawed finger at Medkit in offense, "-DROPPED ME!"
Medkit offered an unfazed brow raise, "And? That's all it takes to displease the mighty Head of Robotics?"
Subspace's jaw hung open from underneath his gas mask, genuinely not sure how to retort. Naturally, he would've had something to fire back, but this was different... this was Medkit, not a Biograft, and not another Inphernal.
Medkit blinked at Subspace, awaiting a dramatic reaction like the standard Subspace would. Unbeknownst (look at me, I'm so smart with my words, Lol) to him, Subspace was NOT acting very ordinary in the first place. Then the earlier statement from Medkit registered to Subspace: they were on the same team, not opposite, the same.
Subspace glared at Medkit in furious disbelief, "You're fucking kidding."
Medkit returned the glare with equal strength, "No, I am not. Get up, I have healing to do, and you have people to poison. God, that sounded awful."
Subspace groaned under the gas mask, "Can't believe I have to work with you out of all people... Yuck..."
Medkit shot a bitter, "Shut the hell up and let's go. We have a team to support, both of us."
Subspace rolled his eye, "Tch, even if I wanted to..." He shifted his arms into a crossed position.
"Well, we're going to make it work. Whether you want to or not, bossy," Medkit lightly smacked Subspace's right arm, which caused the scientist to flinch involuntarily.
Subspace was about to counter, but Ban Hammer, one of his phighting mate's alongside Medkit's, burst out from behind the corner, "WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOIN'?! WE HAVE A PHIGHT TO WIN! MY MOMMA AIN'T GONNA BE PROUD IF MY TEAMMATES ARE JUST STANDIN' THERE SMALL TALKIN'!! GET YOUR ASSES IN THE PHIGHT."
Medkit was already moving, zipping past Ban Hammer, "Yes, sir."
Subspace's cheeks under the gas mask were flaming red, "Goody two shoes..." He muttered weakly.
