“No, Merlin. Don’t waste your energy on that. We need to free Camelot. Every day that passes means more suffering, more lives lost. We cannot let that happen.”
“A fire will not stop us from that, Arthur. Stop whining and let me help you.” A quick flash of golden eyes and a small fire lights up, tiny sparks flying up into the night sky. “See, it wasn’t that bad.”
“I keep on forgetting that…you…”
“You will eventually catch up to it.”

Summary
Since Arthur Pendragon miraculously returned from the dead, he's been struggling to get used to the vastly different world around him. One thing is for certain, however: there's always one thing that is a constant in his life, one thing to ground him, and that's Merlin. And Merlin is incredibly observant and finds a way to make Arthur's anxiety a bit more manageable.

Summary
Being cursed by magic and being cursed are two separate situations. A curse by magic must be cast by a sorcerer and will end once the caster has died, a curse however, is capable of being cast by anyone, whether they be a magic user or not.
A curse can only be cast by a person on their deathbed, where their lingering strong emotions latch onto their intended target and transforms into a curse, though no one entirely knows why or how this happens. Whoever the target is however, will never be able to escape their curse until their deaths.
A golden prince who abhors magic, cursed with the touch of death. A peasant-born warlock attempting to hide his magic in the center of Camelot, cursed with immortality. Two sides of the same coin indeed.

Summary
It takes a month after Arthur lifts the ban on magic for him to adjust to the fact that the people around him might actually start to use it. Even stranger is when Merlin learns some from Gaius and, oddly enough, has a bit of a knack for it.
In which Arthur is obtuse, Merlin is trying his best, and Gwaine, Elyan and Leon don't understand why they can't learn to light fires as easily as Merlin did.
