Look, Arthur understands. He’s a King now, and that means there are more people after him and that he must be careful. He was being careful! He’d taken knights with him and everything, but that hadn’t stopped a lucky group of bandits from kidnapping him.
Damnit! His husband would NOT be happy with this.
“Merlin’s going to kill me after he gets me out of this.”
Or, Arthur is kidnapped and Merlin’s very understandable reaction to someone daring to take his husband.

Arthur feels guilty, Merlin is a cheeky fucker and they're both hopelessly in love with each other. What else is new?...
Or, the author saw a post on tumblr that said that servants slept next to their lord's bed when visiting other castles and she couldn't resist writing about it.

Summary
Merlin was seriously out of it. Perhaps if he wasn't injured or he had managed to get an hour more of sleep, he wouldn't be in the situation he was now, because when Arthur demanded Merlin light a fire to deal with the awful cold of winter, he didn't even hesitate to turn to the fireplace and light one... with magic. When he turned round to see Arthur facing him (wasn't he behind the changing screen), it suddenly dawned on Merlin what he had just done.
A sleep deprived Merlin accidentally reveals his magic to Arthur and the king just laughs. What happens next results in an angry Merlin.
A magic reveal where Arthur already knew but didn't tell Merlin and when Merlin realises he knew for years gets rightfully pissed.-

Merlin had never really been a fan of waiting. There was so much to do and he always had such little time to do it, there never really was any opportunities for him to wait. Arthur needed this cleaned and Gaius needed those herbs and Gwen needed his input on something to do with Morgana or Lancelot- it was always one or the other and heaven knows if he bothered to stop by the training field he would never get anything done.
The first time Merlin got to sit down and wait was when Arthur died.
Merlin hated waiting.
