"Neil feels something in his chest light up. Like a firecracker or an atom bomb or something else that could self-destruct at any moment. It aches in a dangerous sort of way.
'God', Neil thinks to himself as he follows Todd into the house to help him with boxes. Why had he thought being roommates with Todd was a good idea in the first place? He’s going to suffocate on these feelings; they’re getting too wedged in his windpipe. 'God, you lovesick bastard, you’re so, so stupid.' When Todd Anderson woke up that morning he expected to wake up at welton. In his uncomfortable bed with the soft snores of his roommate, lover, close by. Instead he opened his eyes and was met with a blinding white and the feeling of sweat down his neck, for a moment he was met with the deep anxiety of confusion and then he noticed a face. Charlie.
But it wasn’t his usual cheerful demeanour that Todd had grown fond of, it had filled what he had assumed was going to be a boring school year with laughter and sometimes embarrassment, his face was stricken with grief. Suddenly all of the memories came running back.
Or Todd gets hypothermia after Neil’s death
