The shampoo Magnus gives him is the best thing Alec has ever smelled- sandalwood and honeysuckle and the frankincense they burned at every formal occasion. It's intimate and perfect and probably a little inappropriate for the High Warlock to give the Head of an Institute, even if they are friends. But Alec has always known how to take what he can get, so he thanks Magnus for the shampoo, and never asks for more than the friendship.
Except, ever since he started using the shampoo, everyone around him is acting... strange. Touchy. Alec doesn't like touchy.
He's probably just imagining it. It's just shampoo, right? What else could it be?

“That’s different,” Alec insisted despite the blush that painted his cheeks a lovely red. “I can be quiet if I have to be.”
The temptation to tease Alec some more before inevitably giving in was still very much there, but Alec surprised him yet again with the insistent twitch of his arousal where it was pressed into Magnus’ hip. Huh. It seemed that his shy Shadowhunter had a bit of an exhibitionist streak hidden beyond the surface. And then people said that the two of them had nothing in common.
Needing to explore this new knowledge immediately, Magnus reached for the lock and let the sound of it clicking into place be his response. “Alright then. Lead the way, Alexander.”
OR, the one in which Magnus is more than happy to help Alec live out a fantasy of sneaking a boy into his bedroom in the Institute (with some unintended consequences)

Idris is a big enough company that, logically, a betting pool about when and where the CFO’s son and the hot new marketing consultant will finally be overcome by their unresolved sexual tension and start fucking like rabbits already should have been able to slip by mostly under the radar.
This would have been true if, as originally envisioned, the betting pool had stayed mostly contained between Jace, Simon, Izzy, Lydia, Clary, and a few of their other close friends, as well as a precious few of Alec’s comrades from HR who could spy on him while Izzy spied on Magnus over on the marketing side of the office.
It did not, however, stay contained.
