Abby doesn't really want to care, but it's been so long since she's seen a new face that she finds herself waiting for the new farmer's arrival against her better judgement.
As Abby and the new girl start to form a friendship, her life changes more than it has for a while, and it doesn't all feel good. Only starting a new life isn't so simple. The farm is overgrown and has seen better days, the public services have fallen into disrepair, and the cold corporate fist of Joja has made its way to the valley. To make matters worse, several embarrassing incidents leave Vale's social prospects looking even lower than they were in high school, right down to getting wedgied by the gridball quarterback.
None of that stops Vale though! Determined to find new purpose, Vale sets out to restore Pelican Town with the help of mysterious creatures from another world. With a little luck, Vale might even find a place for zyrself in this little community.

Sam and Sebastian are really close; what pair of best friends aren’t? For a while, Sam has wanted to get closer to Sebastian but has been too nervous to say anything. He didn’t start seriously entertaining the thought of swallowing his nerves and asking Sebastian out until the new farmer moved into town.
Something about the way the farmer looked at Sebastian made Sam feel a kind of anger he’s never felt before. Sam felt unusually possessive of Sebastian; just the thought of him and the farmer hanging out filled him with rage.
Sam continues to act like everything is fine until Abigail corners him one day and coerces him to come clean.
