    “If you help me do this one thing I will never annoy you again,” Akabane pleads, “takes no effort on your part at all, just five seconds of your time, maybe ten. I will never put wasabi into your lunches or hide your pens or put your phone number down for mailing lists about pet products-”

    “You still haven’t actually told me what you needed my help for,” Gakushuu points out.

    “Asano,” Akabane takes a deep breath, “the principal wants me to give a talk to Kunugigaoka Middle School about the value of studying and hard work because I was a 3-E student that got first place.”

    Or: Gakushuu and Karma write a speech. Like everything else they do, it never goes exactly as planned.

    Shinsou Hitoshi planned for his time at Kunugigaoka Junior High to be spent under the radar. He kept his grades average and interactions with others minimal. But when an incident occurs that requires him to use his quirk at school unauthorized (even though he did it to help another student), he finds himself suspended and, even worse, in E-class.

    When the moon exploded due to the dangerous villain known as the Tentacle, the last thing anyone expected was for him to want to teach 3-E. Now Izuku, Hitoshi and their classmates are expected to become assassins, kill the number one villain, and save the earth from the same fate.

    Summary

    Assassination Classroom, by itself, is a complete, well-written story. Matsui created a nigh-perfect masterpiece, for a lack of a better phrase. The flawless blend of comedy, action, twists, timing, and delivery. Needless to say, it is a Shoenen manga that stands above many in the way it keeps punching the same way throughout its three-year tenure, if not stronger with each chapter.

    So the test of extending this story beyond its great ending poses an interesting challenge. A challenge of bringing out the best of a stellar, unique cast. One I will undertake. Join me as I do so, in a series consisting of a main, 140-chapter serial, and several, shorter sequels.

    The class agrees with nods and bewildered looks because Class A has been acting..... Odd. Unusual.

    "Heh," Karma scoffs. "It's not just the A Class."

    3-E freezes.

    "Wha...?" Isogai starts, eyes wide.

    "Haven't you noticed? It's not just the A Class. It's the whole main campus," Karma says. "Class A, B, C, D, the senpais, even the senseis. They're all acting the same."

    "No," Nakamura whispers, horrified.

    "Yep," Karma pops his lips to the sound of the last letter.

    Okajima thumps his head on his desk.

    Nobody expects to see Asano standing in front of them. His face is troubled.

    "Shit," Yoshida breathes. "You too?"

    Asano's eyebrows raise up.

    "They're acting similar regarding you, also?"

    "Fuck," Itona deadpans.

    “Hey, Asano Jr. C‘mon, take a seat. I’ve been waiting for you. Let’s have a chat before I send you back.” A bright faced Ikeda chirps.

    There’s a pause. He stares. His knees are shaky.

    “Wait. Send me back?” He feels a pang of fear run through him, “No. Please. Don’t—I can’t go back there—“

    “One year ago. That’s when it all started going downhill, for you, didn’t it? I’m sending you back one year. And maybe you can save more lives than just yours.”

    Then another voice speaks up, echoing Gakushu’s thoughts, “Ikeda, I’m perfectly fine being dead. I’ve told you there’s no need—“

    Gakushu turns to see a yellow octopus. The Yellow Octopus. He sinks to his knees.

    He thought his life was a mess, who knew death was worse?

    —Gakushu gets a chance to redo the last year of his life. With one simple decision, it leads him on a completely different path. And just maybe, that’s not entirely a bad thing.
