A thought nagged at the back of her head. It felt like something was missing. She piped up again, trying to keep the hint of disappointment out of her words.
"Where's Sunny, by the way? Thought he would be here when we arrived..."
She didn't miss how the three younger teens winced in unison. Worry swelled in the pit of her stomach as a brief silence stretched out, broken by Basil after a minute.
"I haven't seen him at all recently... I think he's started to walk home earlier after school? Last time I saw him was a while before spring break started..."

Taking place years after the recital was cancelled, with Hero and Mari visiting from college. Some things change, some are inevitable.

TLDR; BadEnding!Sunny goes to OMARI Alternate Universe
After SUNNY jumps off the roof of the hospital building, he wakes up back in the past on the day of the incident. Not wanting to repeat the same mistake he did last time, he manages to save MARI and change everything, going into a coma for six years. MARI blames herself and becomes a reclusive shut-in with her own mental trauma of the event. Eventually, SUNNY wakes up to find himself in a different reality than the one he's familiar with, and will have to deal with a sister who's still alive but dealing with her own guilt and suffering from the incident that ruined both of their lives.
Friends are similar, with minor differences. BASIL seems much healthier in this reality, but is he really?
Once everything is over, will SUNNY find the strength to forgive himself for the sins he committed in the previous reality.

Summary: Sunny kills himself at the end of Omori and wakes up back in the past. He ends up doing the Mari trick and ends up in a coma for 6 years while Mari is still alive. Then he wakes up. Mari is in a rough state mentally having obsessed her life over Sunny's return and most of the friend group have drifted apart, with Basil outright hating Mari since he thinks that Mari was the reason that Sunny was in a coma. She sees the people that stopped visiting Sunny as not her friend anymore, that they abandoned Sunny, even though he's a-okay with it. Even though Basil doesn't like Mari, Mari still considers him a true friend since he was the only one who stuck. The gang gets back together, except Mari who can't face them yet, and Hero who went to college. Mari threatened to kill herself if they moved away so while her parents have gone she's still stuck around. Basil and Curtsey become a thing kind of, and Basil is popular in town. Oh also, Sunny connects with Mari's Headspace when they sleep and he's trying to uncover the trauma she's repressed from within there.Since Sunny lived for 4 years after Mari's death in the original timeline he kinda knows everything and he has to either act like he doesn't or try to cover up the things he let slip. Like Sunny recognizing Aubrey immediately. Now that the group is back together they're putting together the excuses he's made to each of them individually and find that they don't match up. Something is amiss with Sunny...

-Not enough ppl realizing that, I'm prolly the only one who caught onto it immediately, but the hallucinations cemented it.(minus Supernatural headspace. Like, cool as hell plot dude, but it was meant to be an entirely separate world for Sunny to escape into, and it's mentioned multiple times how creative he is- OF COURSE he'd create lore for the fantasy he was brain rotting over for 4 years)
Hope the author's doing better w/ that anxiety, depression and loneliness now.
I am SO happy I brain rotted for Omori AFTER the 3 yr gap.
Note to self: go back over everything and comment on it all- you've already done for a couple chapters.
It'd be worth it, trust me. Long, detailed analysis ones going into ur perceptions of the characters and plot. -
