Summary
While practicing for the recital, Mari happens to notice something that - in another world, where she saw things a little differently and had slightly different priorities - she might not have. Though nobody realizes it, this prevents a certain argument and everything that could have followed it. Now she just has to make sure Sunny's okay, and that the recital goes perfectly. But being a big sibling can be hard, especially for someone like her.

He lays them on the picnic blanket as if he’s holding a garage sale, the packaging a bit dirty and the contents likely crumbled. But he tentatively pats the spot next to him with a hopeful gleam in his eyes.

Sunny never went outside anymore. He stopped going to school. He just rotted in bed, and kept coming back to the Headspace.
Aubrey had fallen in with a bad crowd (not the Hooligans) and now she's completely changed.
Hero is busy with school. He barely had time to sleep.
Basil is suffering, his grandmother is getting worse and worse every day.
Kel is trying to get their group back together.
And Mari... Mari regrets what she said, but now she can't take it back and she's too busy to try to fix it. Maybe when she has time, she'll fix it.
OR
The boy finally pulls his friend out of the rotting in the house, but some wrong things happen, some wrong words are said, and now the group of friends has to pick up the pieces to not lose their little brother.
Will they be able to?

Summary
Sunny Suzuki, despite having too much on his plate already, had told his friends the truth about Mari's death, lost his right eye in his fight with Basil, lost all of his friends, and spent his sixteenth and seventeenth birthdays in a doctor's office. Not to mention, the effect that everything prior had on his mental and emotional health is starting to become frighteningly apparent. Now, he's 17 1/2, living in a busy apartment, surrounded by exhausting traffic, rude classmates, and an overworked mother.
That is until he answers a call from Kel for the first time since he left; he finds himself diving into a spark of determination to fix his broken relationship with his old friends and make things right again.
AKA, he takes a trip to Faraway during most of his winter break (1 week, 12/26 - 1/2) with Kel, Hero, Aubrey, and Basil. He spends New Year's with them.
Takes place after the good ending.

TLDR; BadEnding!Sunny goes to OMARI Alternate Universe
After SUNNY jumps off the roof of the hospital building, he wakes up back in the past on the day of the incident. Not wanting to repeat the same mistake he did last time, he manages to save MARI and change everything, going into a coma for six years. MARI blames herself and becomes a reclusive shut-in with her own mental trauma of the event. Eventually, SUNNY wakes up to find himself in a different reality than the one he's familiar with, and will have to deal with a sister who's still alive but dealing with her own guilt and suffering from the incident that ruined both of their lives.
Friends are similar, with minor differences. BASIL seems much healthier in this reality, but is he really?
Once everything is over, will SUNNY find the strength to forgive himself for the sins he committed in the previous reality.

-Not enough ppl realizing that, I'm prolly the only one who caught onto it immediately, but the hallucinations cemented it.(minus Supernatural headspace. Like, cool as hell plot dude, but it was meant to be an entirely separate world for Sunny to escape into, and it's mentioned multiple times how creative he is- OF COURSE he'd create lore for the fantasy he was brain rotting over for 4 years)
Hope the author's doing better w/ that anxiety, depression and loneliness now.
I am SO happy I brain rotted for Omori AFTER the 3 yr gap.
Note to self: go back over everything and comment on it all- you've already done for a couple chapters.
It'd be worth it, trust me. Long, detailed analysis ones going into ur perceptions of the characters and plot. -

Sunny once asked, in the future, stuttered through chapped lips in a moment of delirium.
