It was their little secret, Nobody dared to question why Race was the only non-Brooklyn newsie who was allowed to sell in Brooklyn, why race would get caught in Brooklyn late at night because he was ‘gambling’ too long or it started to rain out and and he’d have to stay the night in the Brooklyn lodging house, why Race is the only person who could get Spot to show his soft side.
