    The Swan Princess AU

    As young children, Prince Anthony and Princess Natasha of neighboring Midgardian kingdoms are betrothed, and spend their summers together every year until they are wed. Tony adores his headstrong friend Nat: it’s her scowly little companion Steve he’s not thrilled about at first. But soon Steve goes from being a thorn in Tony’s side to being his dearest friend – and much, much more than that. Despite Steve feeling the same way about Tony, the pair still dance around each other for years as Steve struggles to accept his feelings for another man: especially one already betrothed to another. Not to mention that Tony is a prince, and Steve is nothing but a squire.

    But before they can make peace, Tony is kidnapped and dragged into the beginnings of another conflict in the nearby magical kingdom of Asgard – he really hates magic. With his potential usefulness diminishing by the day, Tony races to escape even as Steve, Natasha, and their friends race to find him and bring him home.

    And—just to make matters worse—Tony has been trapped by a powerful spell and turned into a swan, of all creatures. He really, really hates magic.

    Steve had gathered their son closer and closer still as the storm started and gained momentum outside, cradling the one-year-old and holding him through the first bouts of thunder, murmuring nursery rhymes and reassuring sweet-nothings in his ears or rubbing their noses together and eventually just nestling Peter's head in his neck, as close to his scenting glands as possible, hoping it would be enough to settle the baby.
    It worked well, up until the point where all the lights went out in a loud click, the power gone from every room in an instant.
    Peter's resounding cry might have been enough to mask the sound thud coming from the workshop had it not been for the combined powers of both the Alpha sense and the serum.
    Steve's arms locked themselves around Peter, one of his large hands caressing the boy's back as they made their way towards Tony. Again, Steve couldn't be more grateful for the precision of his direction in the dark, the house around so familiar he was able to get down the stairs in no time.

     

    “Tones, you okay?”

    Tony didn't answer.

    But that was just about it. More sex, not that Tony could complain, because Steve was amazing in bed. Here he'd thought for so long that the man was a blushing virgin. He learned the truth before they'd even made it to the bedroom.
    Tony really didn't want to complain, because this was more than he could've hoped for, but when he'd watch Steve walk into the room with that tight white shirt and those loose pants, barely hanging onto his hips, he couldn't help but want more than just sex.

Tony's ready to wait for his husband, because he'd do anything for Steve... even if it means letting him go—letting him live the perfect life that the virtual reality put him in, with Peggy and a family and everything Tony couldn't give him. The only way for Steve to escape the virtual reality is to wake up. Problem is, he doesn't know that the virtual reality isn't real.
