Roxy and Rose step forwards, finally. Rose keeps her straight face until she is feet away from you, apparently immune to Jade bouncing up and down in place or your own broad grin. She goes to extend one slim-fingered hand and then barks out a sudden laugh, losing her mask, and reaches out to pull the two of you into a hug. You laugh as well and wrap your arms around both of them, lifting the two girls off the ground and making Jade yell.
“John,” Rose says, “Jade.” Her voice is as carefully enunciated as you expected, if raspier.
Roxy smiles at you, her eyes crinkling at the corners, and then extends one hand to Jake.
“Mr English, Jade, John,” she says, and smiles wider, “welcome to London.”

EDIT 2023: I started this fic in 2015, abandoned it, resumed briefly in 2018, abandoned it again, found it in 2023 and resumed again. Chapters 1-4 I'll keep as unedited as possible, but those are teen writing era, so be warned for the mistakes and such (that likely persist into my 'adult' writing, lol).
Mutation. It is the key to our evolution. It is how we have evolved from a single-cell organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But, every few millennia, evolution leaps forward. Established, and perhaps even cliché as this process is, what happens when four children are given the powers of gods? What happens when, in a world that detests difference, what is different becomes something else entirely? And what happens when these kids, barely on the cusp of understanding either this power or themselves, begin to unravel a secret government conspiracy far beyond anything they could imagine?

Timelines are supposed to become doomed when a loop can't be closed properly. They can't feed into themselves, so they die and are eventually consumed by the horrorterrors. Davesprite can't let that happen again.
So when the timeline becomes doomed due to his actions, he undertakes the responsibility to find a way to close the loop and get back on track, with a little help from the Maid of Time.
John Egbert is unsure of his(?) entire identity. Vriska had given him some girl clothes to use for a prank against someone else (at least, he thinks), so why does he like wearing them so much?
Tavros needs to be brave for once. With help from a mysterious human named "June" that had contacted him, as well as help from a romance-obsessed catgirl, he finally feels confident to stand up to Vriska when he couldn't before.
