Summary
"The Note Desolation Plays"
John Egbert typically remains unfazed by even the most infuriating things, but today something feels off. Today is John's thirteenth birthday—the day he becomes a man—and yet, he still has no idea what he wants to do with his life. There's little for him to do while trapped in his suburban paradise, and he's not very good at any of the things he's passionate about anyhow. He could always follow in his father's footsteps as the ultimate prankster, but does he really want to continue to be laughed at for the rest of his life?
Will he figure out what he wants to do when he grows up? Will he succeed in pranking his ultimate prankster of a dad? Will he successfully retrieve the mail on time? Will he save his entire house from imminent destruction? Or will he fail spectacularly at all of this, like he always does?

But what if he didn't have to watch? What if the world didn't have to go on without him? What if another mysterious being decided to interfere, but this time for the sake of HIS happiness, and the happiness of another troll, one he hasn't had a chance to make friends with yet?
What if I wrote that story, and told it to you, dear reader?
We move forwards, by moving backwards, and it all comes around again in this Friendship Simulator story.
