Summary
It's been a year since Ventuswill, The Divine Wind, had left this world to return to the Forest of Beginnings. A year since Frey, the local Earthmate, had thrown herself into the herculean task of trying to get her back. A year since the fall of the Sechs Empire, whose leader had fallen, leaving behind a nation to crumble.
Things begin to change when the Sechs infighting begins to crawl ever closer, forcing Doug to face the past life he would much rather leave behind. The memories turn into nightmares, and Doug ends up turning to the one person who he thought would never listen to him for comfort and support.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This was the first chapter of Ashes to Ashes, but I have since reconsidered how I wanted to write this story. I won’t delete this or take it down, but I am going to rewrite the first chapter along with whatever else I had written but had not uploaded for this fic.
