It is Year 50 of the Fourth Age of Middle Earth. The Reunited Kingdom prospers, having mostly recovered from the Battle for Arnor fifteen years prior. Relations are being fostered between their neighbors, including the elves of Ithilien, the dwarves of Aglarond, and men of Rohan, Harad, and Dunland. Minas Tirith has become a hub of activity and growth.
But all that is about to change. Rhûn, still at odds with the Reunited Kingdom, and a much stronger nation than ever, has been taken over by a leader known in Gondor's past as the only truly evil queen. With a necromantic ritual, the Queen of Cats is brought back and she wants to return home. She wants her throne back.
Prince Eldarion and his companions now face a threat truly beyond their comprehension. Serious, damning consequences are inevitable.

Summary
Although set in the early Fourth Age, much of the story is based on events that took place (or could have easily taken place) earlier. So there is quite a bit of looking back to events in the Third Age and beyond. The story is concerned with men, mostly Dúnedain. It is not so much about Tolkien characters, as it is about Tolkien themes (of paradise lost, of the dwindling of a great race, of blood and destiny.)
It is the tale of a man who embarked on an unsought journey and went on to play a major part in the events that shaped the south of Gondor in the early Fourth Age. Along the way he would come to discover his heritage and his place among the Faithful, as well as a sacred vow and his bond with a legendary figure of the past.

35 years after the War of the Ring, the children of the heroes must go on their own quest to save Middle Earth yet again, but this time it's from one of their own. Follow the children of Miril (OC- the Other Ranger) and Elrohir, Aragorn and Arwen, Eowyn and Faramir, and Eomer and Lothiriel as they journey from Rohan and Gondor back to the North where dark forces are gathering for a new assault. Cousins and friends unite as they travel through a different Middle Earth now that the rings are gone.
And no one comes out unscathed.
See Middle Earth like never before as we explore the beginnings of the Fourth Age when Lothlorien is abandoned, Rivendell is mostly empty, the Reunited Kingdom is strong, Annuminas rebuilt, the Ents are in control of Isengard, and Harad is at peace with Gondor/Arnor. Even Moria isn't the same.
Sequel to The Other Ranger, but easily standalone.
