Tears well up and spill over, pattering down onto the pieces of paper as his hands begin to shake. Reagan left him. She left him for her job, and her deeper state, and she left him behind in a house in Appleton, Washington.
He’s so many things. He’s upset and he’s angry, but he misses Reagan. The way Ron misses Reagan is like a planet missing its orbit, the moon missing the stars.

There's not that many businesses, all the neighbors know each other. The nights are quiet and dark and calm. There's peace and joy in the atmosphere. And apple trees, so many apple trees.You would think this is the last place the C.E.O. of Cognito Inc. would wanna visit. Nothing remarkable, nothing important, absolutely nothing of note that the shadow government would even care about.
