It also helped that he was pretty easy on the eyes. As far as you were concerned, he could sit there and insult you all day long if it meant you had a safe area to sit in and ten feet of mutated fish man to ogle. You shook your head with a weak laugh. Summary
You stare down at your food, losing your appetite at the sight of moist beans and dry rice. The bland, dingy orange tray sat on a messy prison cafeteria table, decorated with dust. You could almost feel a cold, unsettling breeze pinch at your skin.
Other criminals settled in around you, bumping shoulders and inevitably letting an uncomfortable closeness settle. The undeniable hunger growing inside you, humid atmosphere and irritable voices makes everything almost suffocating. You try not to faint as your eyelids pull themselves downward, fluttering themselves to a halt on your lower eyelids.
When you open your eyes, you’re almost able to forget that you’re not in a prison anymore. Instead, you are sitting on a cold, uncomfortable metal seat- damn your ass hurts. A grumble escapes your throat while your eyes adjust to the red lighting, enclosed into a crammed space. You realize the shoulders bumping you are your peers— or rather prisoners forced into the same situation you’ve found yourself in.
This company.. Urbanshade, was it? Sketchy and untrustworthy, but reluctant, you take the offer you couldn’t deny. Freedom in exchange for opening a few doors? Surely it wasn’t as easygoing as they painted it out to be. -

They'd been curled up in his room for what might've been days, crammed into a bed that was much too small for the two of them, and it didn't seem likely that was going to change anytime soon. Sebastian had hardly moved an inch, curled on his side so his brow rested against Soot's shoulder.
He makes a soft sound of confusion, to which Soot nods to his esca, glowing softly against his collar bone. Right- the smaller man had been halfheartedly reading some old paperback in an attempt to feel like more than a personal space heater, Sebastian's arms slung around him in a feeble attempt to leech his warmth. He hadn't noticed he'd been squinting in the dark.
