Twilight has had a very bad several weeks.
Well, wait— waking up in that grove wasn’t that bad. It was the cryptic warning that he got from what he thinks was a goddess immediately afterwards that was bad. And then his birthmark glowing, then dying, then the unexplainable sadness that followed. Yeah, that was bad. But meeting Wild was wonderful. The fact that he was somehow Twilight’s brother was even better.
And the stable was… okay. At least until they tried to take Wild. That… that hurt in more ways than one. (Twilight still can’t breathe right—)
At least the woods are pretty. They’re cold. And a bit dark. And… scary. But at least they’re pretty. Even if he and Wild are hungry all the time.
But the new people— the new grownups. They’re not okay. Nuh uh. It doesn’t matter if they seem really, really nice, or if they keep leaving toys, or blankets, or food—
No. No, the grownups are not okay, because Twilight will never make that mistake again. Grownups are bad. Scary. They hurt.
And Twilight will never let grownups close to them again.
Or: a child Twi and Wild fic, but with a ✨twist✨. And a whole lot of angst.

Summary
The camper stands, and Four’s own hand immediately darts to grip the hilt of his blade, a reflection of the stranger before them. His potential opponent doesn’t unsheathe his blade, but his gaze follows Four’s movement carefully as he twists around to keep all of them out of his blind spot.
As he does so, Four finally gets a good look at the strangers front—and suddenly he feels sick to his stomach.
The silver glint he saw earlier isn’t a necklace like he thought it was.
It’s a handprint.
It sits just underneath his chin, and with the stranger directly facing him, Four gets a clear view of the way the fingers and thumb frame his jawline, of how they curl inward. The palm of the handprint is right over the windpipe, the thumb and fingers digging into the pulse points at the curve of the jaw.
It looks like… the stranger’s soulmate was… trying to strangle him.
And it’s silver. That’s… that’s Four’s color.
“Who exactly are you guys?” The camper demands, purple eyes ice cold and locked right onto Four.

Everyone freezes.

Link– Pinky keeps the phantom sword raised, leveled at Wolfie. 'Enemy!'
"No, not an enemy! That's one of our brothers!"
'Our?' They turn and give Wind an incredulous look, and Wind does his best not to hiss. Yeah, he hasn't explained much of anything yet, huh? With their free hand they say, That is a wolf!
Or; Legend and Four are missing. Tension thrums beneath the surface in spite of the elder hero's attempts to hide it. Hyrule and Wild are going stir-crazy, finding their mother henning unbearable. With their current era unidentifiable and information scarce, the chain of heroes is reluctant to make a move. Annoyed by the inaction and with no one willing to tell him anything, Wind is determined to figure out what's going on himself— starting with the ghost who's been trailing them from afar.
The darkness continues to churn.

Twilight seemed to accept Shadows' addition quicker than the rest as well, which had earned the Rancher some of Shadows' miniscule, yet existing respect. The rest were either left confused by Shadows' existence, or deeply suspicious of him, as if he could betray them any minute.
Shadow always snorted at those types of glances thrown his way. “Traitor?” he giggled. “If only they knew.” He nudges Four, amused, which earns him a deep sigh.
What was evident beyond all, was how close Shadow was with Four.

“Give it up, Champion!” Blue spats and grips the edge of Wild’s collar, pulling him up roughly. “You left the others — our companions, our brothers — leaving them to their own odds and probably putting them in more danger!”
“Blue,” Vio calls, disapproval sharp and clear in his voice, but Blue hardly pauses.
“You abandoned them!” He shouts in Wild’s face, shaking him by the collar and ignoring the way Wild’s eyes snap wide open in horror. “You left them and now you want to — What? Make a scene and distract Hyrule? Mess up Twilight’s hope of survival¡?”
“Blue!” Red gasps loudly, shocked. Blue shakes his head, shutting his eyes close for a second before he shouts out in frustration.
