    Summary

Odysseus jumps to his feet, but freezes before he can even get his sword halfway out of its sheath.
He is hallucinating. He must be.
The blueish figure steps a little closer, pushing up a pair of silvery glasses with a smile as bright as the sun.

What if Polites's ghost visited Ody one last time?

I changed the lyrics to the song "Open Arms" a bit and removed the Lotus Eaters' parts. Now, we've got a short one shot (including said song of course) to cry a bit more about Polites's death and Ody's trauma. Yay!

I imagine this would take place some time after "Would You Fall in Love with Me Again".

    Summary

Note: An Epic the musical Fanfic that takes place just after both the Vengeance Saga & Ithaca Saga and is a Post-Canon story.
    ------------------------------------------

Left in a wounded state on a rocky outcrop in the sea just a few miles off the coast of Ithaca, Zeus comes to the aid of his brother, Posiedon, with Apollo in tow to help heal his wounds but also to deliver some news that may be... Unsettling.

Unaware of the Gods' deal with Athena to release Odysseus from Calypso's island, Posiedon waited until the right moment for the king to return so that he could confront his old enemy but Odysseus was not the same man he used to be 10 years ago.

Now as he lay wounded, Zeus tells his brother that as punishment for refusing to let Odysseus go free, Posiedon is to be Exiled from Olympus and must find a way to make amends with the King of Ithaca while his powers are sealed with a pair of arm braces made by Hephaestus.

Posiedon is appalled by this and tries to protests but Zeus' word is final as he reluctantly strips Posiedon of his role and a vast majority of his power as God of the Sea.

Can an Exiled Posiedon learn to see the world through different eyes?

    Summary

Legends say Odysseus spared the Cyclops, but that seems to be far from the case. When Poseidon returned from his ruthless exploits to find his son dying from the poisonous Lotus, he was both impressed and enraged. Odysseus needed to pay, but maybe not how he originally intended. After all, a son for a son is a perfect trade.

    Summary

At some point, he started screaming himself, trying to drown out the voices that tormented him. But then, a punch landed on his cheek. That, surprisingly, made all the voices stop at once. Completely. For the first time in years, Odysseus's mind was totally silent.

“Hey! You can’t just punch him like that!” yelled Polites, right in front of Odysseus, trying to stop Eurylochus, who didn’t even seem interested in Polites’ words.

“You said we had to help him,” Eurylochus complained, looking annoyed, as if it were obvious, as if he hadn’t done anything wrong.

“But not like this! You can’t just go around punching people like that!” Polites argued back, clearly determined to defend his point.

“Well, it’s not like I can go around punching people,” Eurylochus replied, irritated, crossing his arms and looking away. “Turns out, when you're dead, you can’t really touch people,” he muttered, a faint blush on his cheeks. “I don’t even know how I managed to hit Ody,”

    Summary

“You look awful,” says Polites, because it is true.

Eurylochus goes rigid. His breath catches, and for a moment, Polites wonders if he will pretend not to have heard, pretend it is only the wind and the waves. But then Eurylochus opens his eyes. Slowly, cautiously, his gaze finds Polites, and the emotion in his eyes is bare—all his grief, his desperation, the hesitant hope at the sight of him.

“You—” His voice breaks. “You’re dead. You died.

In which Polites is dead, but not gone. He seeks out Eurylochus first.

Cutting his life short they unraveled the thread of his afterlife to join it with another, a smaller and younger one. He would provide the needed support to the younger soul, they knew they chose him well for such a task.
This should make a difference, change the course of fate.
It was in their nature to know such things.

    Summary

Eurylochus attempts a smile, as he often had in the face of his bright-spirited comrade, but the expression feels weary. “I would have rather seen you alive, my friend.”

“It doesn’t work that way,” Polites says, voice so very soft, as though he is worried that a louder volume might strike Eurylochus like a physical blow. He thinks that it very well might; it is a painful interaction knowing that, for all the words they might be able to share here, Polites is gone. His friend is gone, and everyone has felt it.

“Everything has changed without you here. I have missed you.”

Preview chapter of "I will tell you his stories" where Polites lingers on as a ghost and mentors Telemachus.
For those who want to have a taste of where this fic is headed and the kind of things I intend to do with it.
It works as a standalone one-shot as well, probably.
