The rebellion was successful, bringing a new era to Navarre. The kingdom is no longer shrouded in ignorance about the true threat of Venin. King Tauri and the other 94 corrupt leaders, including Professor Markham and Generals Sorrengail and Melgren, have been executed for their betrayal and deceit.
When the rebellion triumphs, I, eighteen-year-old Violet Sorrengail, find myself without a family. Mira is spared execution for her naivety on the matter, given she has only just graduated and has a Lieutenant rank. However, she is still on mandatory deployment, unable to care for me for several years. King Fen Riorson, knowing the importance of fostering unity and healing old wounds, has agreed to take me in as his ward. I am told I will be welcomed into the Riorson household, where I will be under their protection until I either turn twenty-one or enter college at age twenty. Summary
After Xaden Riorson and Violet Sorrengail's great exit from Basgiath War College during IF, Lieutenant Garrick Tavis and third year cadet Imogen Cardulo, along with their friends, Bodhi Durran, Quinn Artan, Liam Mairi and Ridoc Gamlyn, embark on a clandestine mission to rescue all the underage marked kids from the Navarrian foster homes and bring them back to Aretia.
However, they did not plan for their whole lives to be turned upside down when one of those kids turns out to be their niece. Maybe battling Venin and surviving as a dragon rider was the easy part, compared to the challenges of having to adapt to their new situation - all while stubbornly clinging to any excuse not to admit their feelings for one another.
What could go wrong, right?

This is a rewrite of my previous fic “The Wingleader – Xaden’s POV”. It’s a Fourth Wing retelling from Xaden’s POV with new Iron Flame updates. It follows the dialogue and chapter timeline from Fourth Wing with my own interpretations and theories of Xaden’s actions and feelings.

While he'd love to burn this place down, it's the only chance for survival-for him, and the other marked ones. But then Violet Sorrengail arrives, the youngest child of one of his greatest enemies. He's convinced she's here to ruin him. But Xaden must also fight against his inexplicable attraction to her, one he very much doesn't want but can't seem to escape.
This is a retelling of Fourth Wing from Xaden's POV, following along with each chapter. I've added new scenes with Xaden, Garrick, Bodhi, Imogen, and Liam. This was written PRE-Iron Flame, and all new scenes and internal thoughts of Xaden are my own theories and speculation. There are spoilers for FW throughout, including from the beginning.
Post-IF update: I've decided to NOT edit this work based on what we learn in IF. I think it gives too much away of the plot of IF to do that, and I love the fanfic I imagined. I may update certain scenes in standalone one-offs.

Xaden Riorson is screwed. After starting a private security firm with his best friend and cousin, Xaden was hoping to make a name for himself, far away from his father's presidential campaign. In a cruel twist of fate, their first client turns out to be the daughter of one of Fen's staunch political rivals. At first glance, the job seemed straightforward — protect the girl from an overzealous fanboy, who hated what she wrote. But things are not as simple as they seem, and it appeared that Violet Sorrengail would be bringing nothing but trouble to his door.
