Every cell in my body feels like a scab, I can barely stand upright as I bring the dagger above my head, standing over Bodhi.His face is flushed, sweat soaked. My heart shatters as he gets paler by the second. I curse my own size, the large wooden cart that has crushed his right leg is too heavy for me to move, and I have drained myself to the point of being unable to use lesser magic. The venin before us grins underneath his red hood. He savors his moment of victory, taking agonizingly slow steps towards us.

She knows that the people in charge—like her mother or Mayor Varrish, to name a few—keep them safe and would never let something endanger their idyllic little life here.
When her older sister Mira is sent to reinforce the wards, Violet tags along knowing that as long as they stay within Navarre’s wards, she and Mira will be fine. Especially since Mira has her dragon Teine nearby.
