"No witnesses," Kepler whispered. Before Jacobi could give a response, a shadow moved in the corner. And then there was a gunshot.
It was aimed for Jacobi. Kepler had time to save himself—dive into shelter, switch to one of the contingencies lined up in his head. The hallway would shield him for more than long enough to turn the tide. The hallway was right behind him.
But he didn't find himself there. Instead, there was a sharp pain in his shoulder and blood pooling in the hand below it where he stared, shocked. Another gunshot, followed by the weight of a body hitting the floor. It wasn't Jacobi's, because he was right at Kepler's side with his gun drawn and aimed.
"Sir—are you okay?" Jacobi asked, steady. The breathless quality of his voice betrayed his concern, though. Kepler looked at Jacobi in his widened eyes and then back to his own blood-soaked hand. Rage surged inside of him.

He clenched his jaw at the thought. Why the fuck did he do that? Why did his arm move like that?
The gun was aimed at Jacobi. It was going to hit Jacobi . Kepler would have been fine, would have carried out the rest of the mission with or without the other man. But instead he had a throbbing pain in the part of his body he threw forward to protect a replaceable asset. Why.

When a mysterious solar storm erupts from the star Wolf 359, the crew of the Hephaestus Station braces for disaster, but the real nightmare begins after the storm passes. Soon they discover their bodies are changing in ways they can’t explain. New instincts emerge, strange urges grow stronger, and their relationships become tangled in dangerous, primal dynamics.
Trapped together aboard the station, they must confront the growing chasm between who they were and what they are becoming. Every decision they make is colored by their transformations, and survival becomes a question of whether they can resist or embrace the new changes.
This is a story I’ve been thinking about for a lonnnng time. Please do keep in mind what you are getting into with the tags! The thought of A/B/O in space is too interesting not to work on. Most of the tags are used for the disturbing/horror part of this story and will be depicted as such. However chapters involving it will have warnings so feel free to skip them/those parts.
