This is a story about love, not morals. Our heroes will have an affair.
This is a Sidlotte HEA – no matter where the narrative seems to go.Story starts after the ending of S1. This is my first attempt at writing fiction. I’m trying to follow closely the feel of S1 of Sanditon – the grittiness, the inappropriateness. I like what Andrew Davies was going for. Some storylines from S2 and S3 will be incorporated, including (TW) the pregnancies in S2.
Two main prompts for this story:
1. Sidney cannot meet Charlotte’s parents and formally ask for her hand because of reasons.
2. Charlotte is courted by, and not an employee of, Alexander Colbourne who, like Sidney, knows her worth.I’m Hispanic/Latin whatever. This will hopefully be reflected in the writing as I was influenced by a ton of insanely passionate Spanish language music and lyrics while I wrote this. I watched too many telenovelas as a kid.

Summary
Charlotte Heywood has always loved fairytales.
For years, she dreamed of one day experiencing a fairytale adventure of her own, complete with a ballgown, a handsome prince and a happy ending.
Now in her twenties and having experienced a recent relationship breakup, along with dealing with the day to day practicalities of running her own bookshop in a quiet village while trying to make enough money to pay her rent and bills, Charlotte has become a bit more pessimistic about perfect happy endings, and more certain in her belief that fairytales don't happen in real life.
However, when Charlotte starts to see and hear a few signs that she will soon encounter the man of her dreams at a fancy party, as well as hints that this man will have connections to royalty, and she then receives an unexpected invitation to attend a ball, where she meets a charming, handsome man who looks like a prince, acts like the man of Charlotte's dreams and mysteriously disappears at midnight, Charlotte starts to wonder if fairytales really can come true after all.

Summary
This idea has been on my mind for a while, when I was thinking about the unseen characters in stories. Jane Austen used financial status to depict her characters, servants were a key part of how affluent a household actually was.
Servants in the different households would freely mix and undoubtably share information discretely. In Sanditon, this would have been amplified by local businesses and families, as their relatives would have quite often been employed by the upper class residents. Then you add links with London and there’s a hotbed of rumours waiting to happen. It’s quite interesting to rewatch the scenes and spot all the different members of the households featured, plus the other references to their presence.
This story starts on the night of the Midsummer Ball, with the starting point that Charlotte & Sidney had attracted attention, with all of their interactions. So, what would be the reaction, when it all falls apart?
I’ve used character names mentioned in other Austen novels, as well as taking inspiration from the original Sanditon fragment.
