Kaladin Stormblessed was not meant to survive the bridge crews, nor the arrows of the Parshendi, nor the highstorm’s judgement.Now, he commands the bridgemen in the royal guard of Dalinar Kholin. Kaladin accidentally almost gets his hands on the more dubious sketchbooks Shallan keeps in her collection. Fortunately, Shallan fights him off before he can actually see it. Adolin walks in on a strange spectacle, but he’s used to their shenanigans at this point. The crisis was averted. For now.

There he meets Kaladin, his squadleader and new roommate. Adolin’s flirty, sunshine charm slowly breaks through Kaladin’s walls, and they eventually fall for each other.
Then, Amaram betrays them. He tries to kill Adolin and sells Kaladin into sexual slavery.
When Adolin finally finds Kaladin again, he’s broken. He doesn’t believe the man he once loved could be a prince.
But Adolin refuses to give up.
