Patterns and echoes of what she knew was supposed to happen - she could see them everywhere. She was what was wrong in the picture, the thing that shifted everything and caused devastating changes, and yet even then the weave of history showed a similar image to what she had expected.
Being reincarnated into the body of an Elf, growing up in Rivendell, it had always sounded like a dream to her. It was both a dream and a nightmare. “This is a trinket I was given at your birth. I have never shown you it as the time was not right before now.” Thrain opened his palm to reveal a golden band. It was smoothed by touch and unadorned. Not spectacular, but Thrain would hardly hold onto such a trinket if it was not worth something.
“The wizard who gave it to me was quite adamant that you should have it when you were of age.” The king held it out to Thorin. The metal was cool to the touch, but quickly warmed up in the heat of his hand. He ran his fingers along it and nearly shuddered. He could feel it throbbing, nearly vibrating with a strange sort of energy.
“This ring is not meant for you to wear, of course. It is too small for you. This ring is made to fit only the person that will be your Sanzeuh. You have thirty days in which to find him.”
Thirty days. Thirty days to find something as ridiculous as true love, or he'd have to marry a beardless, nagging dwarrowdame. Thorin Oakenshield didn't think it could happen.
And then Bilbo Baggins popped into his life. Though, Thorin could have done without the cats, shoes, and girly bits. Still, the course of true love never has run smooth. And the peppers were delightful.

Aragorn felt a stab in his chest, guilt and love intertwining painfully in his heart, claws digging in deep. Legolas looked positively beautiful, he thought, crowned in the golden rays of the early sun. A dream, something that he would always be to Aragorn. Never anything more.

Summary
There are several things that the dwarves don't know about the hobbit that is traveling with them. Things that Bilbo is glad to let them find out for themselves along the way.
The first is that he's prepared for anything. His mother used to quiz him about what he'd do in any situation - from relatives to trolls - and Bilbo never disappointed her with his answers. Riding a pony all day gives him plenty of time to plan for everything.
The second is that he can throw a stone or any other small object hard enough to embed it several inches into a tree trunk. His accuracy is uncanny even by Shire standards. He's quite proud of it.
The third is that he doesn't actually say so many proverbs when at home but it seems to annoy the dwarves so he spends time thinking up all the ones he's heard before.
And last, hobbits scold like it is no one's business. The Dwarves he's traveling with really have no idea what will happen if they truly piss him off.

Struck Gold, the slow burn is slow burn in the best way. Not, "oh they're oblivious for the longest time "more "they fall in love in increments and take time to express it slowly but surely til its practically gushing sweet words "
Bilbo is badass and the individual small pov is great insight into almost every Dwarf of the company, plus some elves and men.
The small encroachment of the ring plotline is also well done
