Things have been really looking up for him and Tommy. At least, Wilbur likes to think so.
Both him and Tommy have stable jobs and a roof over their heads. They have friends at work and never wonder if they have food in the fridge. Hell, even clothing wasn't truly and issue anymore. But what if things weren't quite as happy as Wilbur thought? Sometimes people can be so blinded by their own contentment that they miss the signs of another's pain. Of course, it doesn't help if the other person is hiding it, either.
Luckily, they have people to catch them when they fall.

The pink-haired man looked at him blankly before shifting his gaze to Phil, frowning slightly as he gestured to the brunette.
“Phil, Phil,” He said with a slight urgency, incredulity lacing the edges of his tone, “I know you’re old,” The blonde made an offended noise, still rubbing his chin, “But I didn’t think you’d deteriorated this much. You were supposed to make him feel better. I leave you alone for an hour and you’ve made him cry.”

Wilbur has always had a knack for paying close attention to his surroundings, noticing small details, etc. When an old friend comes to him for help with a missing child's case, he gets slowly dragged down into a series of events that change everything. Including the fact he was most likely being haunted by some psychopathic ghost boy with a lot of fucking attitude.
Tommy was a pretty normal kid, well besides the fact his best friend suddenly goes missing, and when he meets the man who the police force had brought into help with the case in some unnatural circumstances, he's lead deeper into a whole shit bucket full of life changing events, while starting to care for this pathetic, self pitiful, grown ass man like the brother he never had.
